Although we don’t have a wood-burning fireplace in our home, we do go camping several times per year, and we bring our own firewood with us rather than pay the considerable mark-up for wood in or around campgrounds. One of my customers is an arborist, so I have access to inexpensive off-cut firewood suitable for campfires. As such, we have a good-sized stack beside our house, which up to this point has been piled directly on the ground. This creates two issues: An untidy stack that necessarily needs to be long enough not to collapse at its ends, and a bottom layer of firewood that both stays damp from being on the ground and which is difficult to string-trim the grass around.Onlyflame’s firewood rack bracket kit is an affordable solution that allows you to decide the overall length and height of your firewood stack. The kit includes everything that you need with the exception of the 2x4 lumber needed to construct it. (Your chosen dimensions will determine what wood you need to purchase.)I went with pressure treated wood as our rack was going to be outdoors and the two lengthwise pieces would be sitting directly on the ground. (You could easily improvise some sort of legs or stands to elevate them, but this is not part of the kit or its design and I did not bother.)The brackets themselves are of sturdy enough construction for the intended purpose, and have a decent finish that I’m assuming is powder-coated. One of my brackets had a chip out of it. Given that it’s not going to be anywhere that appearance will matter that much, I wasn’t bothered by that, and just hit it with some paint.I do have to make three minor complaints about this product:- No instructions are included. It may be pretty much self-evident, but there should still be some form of instructions.- The dimensions of the pockets the lumber goes into are appreciably oversize for the standard 2x4 boards (which of course are not actually 2 inches by 4 inches…). This gives them a much looser fit than would be preferable, relying entirely on the included screws to keep them in place and tight – see the photos. Not ideal, however it doesn’t appear to affect the rack’s use, so…- The included screws are wedge head, so don’t sit flush with the bracket when tightened. Pan-head screws would have been a better choice both functionally and aesthetically.Overall, the kit accomplished what I wanted; it allowed me to tidy-up my camp wood pile, reduced the amount of space it occupies, and it should make easier my lawn maintenance once the weather improves enough here to require that.

Used pressure treated timber to assemble this kit. Probably in your best interest to do the same if it is going to be in an outdoor usage. We did in order to store firewood for our summer chimenea. The brackets appear to be well made material, and held up well to cursing and physical persuasion (they were tight). Screws were Phillips (ugh), so I used some multi-function Spax style screws (stainless) to prevent corrosion and hold up longer.Overall, held about 1/4 face cord of wood based on its dimensions or my poor calculations.

The holes for regular 2x4 lumber were too big and had to add shims to create a snug fit.Very disappointing and time consuming to assemble.

Product requires 2x4 material that is actually 2x4in. Standard hardware store material will be too small as it's actually smaller than 2x4in. You'll need to add some shims so that everything fits snug. Also the screws that are included are very cheap white metal. If you use something like an impact driver to drive the screws in, the heads will shear off.

We made an indoor wood holder with these. The 2x4s don’t fit perfectly as the holes are a little bigger (4 stars) but once they are screwed in it’s just fine. The braces work great for the uprights. Definitely would recommend this item.
