  • 【Security Upgrade】We come with a removable threaded scratching post that can be mounted outside for the owl to stand when you are sure there are no other animal threats around; And we upgraded the design even further by installing a scratching post on the planks at the entrance of the cave to ensure that the owls could climb and stand freely to observe, while protecting their home from other animals.
  • 【Ventilation and Moisture Protection】 Bottom board of the owl house cuts off the four corners, Side board of the owl house cuts off the two corners, leaving a gap to ensure that the owl box is ventilated and protected from moisture.
  • 【Superior Quality】Our owl house is made of thicker outstanding planks and through the charring process, not easy to be damaged even after long time outdoor use. each set comes with a bag of wood shavings.
  • 【Size】Our owl box measures 8 x 8 x 13 inch, the size design is enough to accommodate small to medium sized owls under 9 to 11 inches and most other birds, providing them with a total of a comfortable perch in the outdoors.
  • 【Easy Installation】The owl house can be completed in minutes. With two large screws included, you can mount the owl house in a tree 10 to 20 feet off the ground to attract owls to make a home.

This owl house will probably do the job, but it’s not the highest quality option out there. The wood is plywood—not the most durable for long-term outdoor use—and it feels a bit on the cheaper side. The biggest issue for me is the perch. Attaching it could actually make it easier for predators to access the nest, which defeats the purpose of offering owls a safe home. My advice: don’t attach the perch, or better yet, look for a design that avoids this problem altogether. It earns 4 stars because it’s still functional and might work fine in the right location. But if you're serious about owl conservation, I’d suggest investing in a better thought-out screech owl box.

We live in a forested area and often hear owls in the woods. This is a nice idea and I hope one of our local owls thinks so as well. I took off a star because the directions for assembly were not detailed enough. They assumed I knew which was the "right side" without labeling the panel or giving a diagram for some guidance. Obviously, I figured it out because there are only 8 pieces, but feel like some folks would rather not have the trouble of doing so. The bedding was out of its bag and all over the inside of the box, so that was a bit of a pain. But I just scooped it into the completed house without incident. It is well built and fit together just fine. Be sure not to over-tighten the two screws at the top of the front panel because it has to pivot on those to open it. I used three screws to mount it to a tree because just using two in line, like it comes with, allowed it to swivel from left to right a bit. I used a ladder and mounted it about 13' up in a tree to meet the best height to accommodate the types of owls that live in our area.

I ordered this WodGod raptor box (Amazon ASIN B0DPKKYVZ9) because I could hear their parliament's nocturnal hoots in the night so I figured maybe they'd want to have a cozy screech box to keep the young owlets safe in a protected environment. What's especially important is this owl house is designed to be airy inside, with large openings in the roof edges, and to be easily cleaned out with the entire front swinging open to sweep out the detritus - which helps prevent the buildup of parasites and debris. The hole is small enough to keep the owls in, and most predators out.The instructions were beautiful in almost all regards, but actually terrible in some, so I'd love for the maker to read this review and fix the problems simply by identifying the objects BEFORE they're put together, as I was forced to guess which was the right side versus the left side, and I had guessed wrong. So I had to take the whole thing apart and start over. Not that it's difficult; just that it's frustrating.I like that the owl box comes with a removable scratching post for the owls to stand on if they feel safe, and I love that the corners in the back are cut off so that liquids can leave and air can enter. I looked up why the Amazon listing used the words "outstanding planks", which apparently means wood that is good for an owl house, such as Cedar, Redwood, Cypress and Pine, where this box is real wood but I'm pretty sure it's not Cedar, Redwood or Cypress, so maybe it's pine. At least it's solid wood.Noting that it's crucial to use untreated wood for owls, it's great to note in the Amazon listing that they claim to use a "charring process" to treat the wood, which is sometimes called the burnt cedar plank where they burn the wood, and then brush it afterward. Charring the wood makes it more durable and weather resistant and it doesn't introduce harmful chemicals. While it might be considered nice that wood shavings are included, they are packed in a plastic bag so thin that they spilled all over the place when I opened the box, so just be advised to open the package outside when it arrives from Amazon. The package comes with a screwdriver but seriously, it's too thin to be comfortable after a few screws so just use your own #2 Phillips screwdriver. The main trick that I failed at, is that there is a RIGHT side and a LEFT side, which look almost EXACTLY the same, the only difference being a small screw hole drilled into the RIGHT side for the locking block. Ask me how I know that you have to take the entire thing apart if you accidentally put the RIGHT side where the LEFT side goes.Oh, I weighed the built house, with all the screws in it, at 1.195 KG (a bit more than 2-1/2 pounds), which is light enough to mount ten to fifteen feet up on a tree while you're on a ladder.Overall, save for the instructions not being the greatest, this is a nice owl box, albeit maybe only for the smaller screech owls given the sparsity of dimension.I sincerely hope this effort to describe the product in detail helps you make a better purchasing decision.

The quality is pretty good, although the wood is fairly thin. The listing says the wood is "burned", which it appears to be. But it also has some kind of finish on it - you can smell it as soon as you open the box. Not wanting to risk injuring a bird with a foreign finish, I sanded it off on the inside surfaces. Assembly was quick and easy, and the illustrated instructions are pretty good (pay attention that the two sides slope back to front, there's no mention of that in the instructions). This house also came with a bag of sawdust, but no instructions as to what it's for. Bedding for the inside, perhaps? Also it would have been nice if the manufacturer provided some tips on placement.
