Product Description

Hot on the heels of the award-winning Pangea Audio Vulcan audio component rack comes the Vulcan TT Turntable Stand with integrated vinyl record storage. This three-shelf stand provides a rigid, stable top shelf platform to support turntables or other components. It also has a component shelf for holding another piece of gear and a specially-designed bottom shelf to hold 100+ vinyl records.

With the recent resurgence of turntable and vinyl record sales, Pangea Audio saw the need for a stand designed to rigidly support both turntables and vinyl records. The problem with the current stands on the market was that they were either too expensive, too flimsy, or provided no vinyl record storage. To answer this need, Pangea Audio borrowed technology from its Vulcan audio rack series, which is famous for being rigid and stable, easy to assemble, and easy to expand, thanks to the unique modular design.

Smart Products with Strong American-Based Support

Founded in 2010, Pangea Audio, LLC is an American-based company dedicated to providing premium audio products and accessories. Pangea Audio was founded on a less-is-more philosophy, believing that high prices are not always the best measure of quality – and that superior design and quantity purchasing offer the best value to its audiophile customer base.

Pangea Audio products are currently in use by more than 100,000 audiophiles and music lovers in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, and dozens of other countries.

X-Braces Maximize Strength and Rigidity

Pangea wanted an open design that could support the weight of 100+ vinyl records, which can weigh up to 80 lbs. The solution was a steel X-brace. The steel X-brace adds strength and rigidity to the stand, reduces lateral motion and minimizes vibrations. With the X-brace, as you add weight in the form of vinyl records, the X-brace tightens making the stand even stronger.

Heavy-Duty Top Platform for Your Turntable

For solid turntable support, Pangea Audio included a heavy duty top platform. At 19mm, this shelf is 25% thicker and supports 25% more weight than standard Vulcan shelves. At 23.75" wide by 18" deep, the top platform offers plenty of room for all but the largest, most expensive turntables on the market.

Modular Design Lets You Easily Add or Subtract Shelves

After research, Pangea Audio designers determined that the 27.5" height was the optimal height for both stand rigidity and ease of use with a turntable. However, because of the clever modular design, you may add or subtract additional shelves as you like. You can even add an additional LP storage shelf for storing an additional 100+ vinyl records. Many customers find that adding or removing shelves is 'as easy as changing a light bulb.'

Spikes

Tapered Cones and Carpet-Piercing Spikes

At the bottom, the Vulcan TT features tapered cones and carpet-piercing spikes. This cone/spike combination rigidly holds the stand in place and prevents floor vibrations from influencing the turntable's performance. For customers with hard surface floors, the Vulcan TT comes with a set of four Mini Sonic Saucers to protect the wood or tile finishes.

Strong, Steel Bolt-Together Design with Premium Shelves

The Vulcan TT stand is a steel bolt-together design that measures 27.5" tall, 23.75" wide by 18" deep. The premium 0.625"-thick MDF shelves feature a scratch-resistant and stain-resistant vinyl covering. The usable distance between shelves is 19.4" and the usable height above the middle shelf is 7.25". Shelves hold up to 75 lbs each. Total rack capacity is 300 lbs

Storage

Extra Component Shelves and Vinyl Storage Shelves

Need an extra shelf or two for holding more components? Separately sold options include Add-A-Shelf Kit with 7" supports, Add-On-LP-Storage Shelf Kit for up to 100 vinyl records, and a Vulcan Add-on 21mm Top Platform for heavier turntables. All of these are simple to install.

Note: You can create any combination of regular and LP-Storage shelves that you like. However, we do not recommend combinations that are more than 42" tall.

The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Not much to it, actually. Everything fits together without any problems. All pieces were included and marked in separate sections of plastic pockets. It tightened up fine. The mid-shelf is a bit thinner than the top, so make sure you put the right one on in order. The bottom has a raised lip at the back to identify it. Very solid, and plenty big enough to handle a Technics SL-1200 turntable, a concern I ran into with other tables, if that gives an idea of the proportions. It looks very posh, actually - very solid bit of kit. LPs underneath, receiver mid and turntable on top. Took about a half hour going slowly to put together. Pop for the glide feet for hardwood floors. The spikes that come with it standard are for carpeted areas. Use a bubble level as the final step and you are ready to spin some wax.Quite satisfactory, as Mary Poppins says!

Really nice piece. Very sturdy and just a perfect fit for my turntable, amp and albums. Very easy to assemble, took about 30 minutes and no tools required!!! I really like the fact that you can add an additional shelf that holds more records. I'll be sure to purchase the add on as my collection grows.

I purchased this for the audio gear I have in my study. I used the bottom for a 7" reel to reel player, the middle for a receiver, and the top for my turntable. The unit is very sturdy and there was plenty of room for my gear. The adjustable feet were a bit difficult to balance out but I got it in then end. It is a great looking and very functional little stand. Assembly tool about 45 minutes or so and was quite easy.

I found this easy to assemble, but I'm the kind of person that loves to attempt to put together IKEA furniture without looking at the instructions. They do include diagrams to indicate what order things go but study them closely since having to take it apart to fix a mistake could be a chore. Assemble from the top down with the thickest shelf on top. I initially thought this one would be at the bottom since 100 LP's weigh more than anything else you would put on any of the higher shelves but the bottom shelf is the one that has the lip at the back to prevent albums from sliding out the rear and I suppose having the top shelf be the thickest makes sense for stability. Tighten every bolt and post as much as you can to get the best overall structural integrity. If you purchased an extra shelf like I did, you'll have to account for that in the order but the installation is the same for each tier, pretty much. This product honestly deserves five stars for what it does but I felt the price was a tad high and, as others have mentioned, the diagram could have been easier to follow if they added some written instructions. Don't get me wrong, it's high quality and although others reported a shelf or two damaged in transit, that's hardly the manufacturer's fault and mine came pristine (the packaging was ample). But the base unit, at $140, could have included one more shelf, which I purchased for an additional $60. So in the end, it cost $200 for a unit with four shelves but if you only need three, the base unit will do. Now that I think about it, it's probably the extra shelf that was overpriced...Still, once my collection of records surpasses the capacity of the single bottom shelf, I plan on purchasing an extra one of them which will add some height to the tower as well as give me more room for albums. As it stands now, top has my turntable, second shelf has audio receiver, third shelf has accessories and pre-amp and the bottom shelf, of course, has my collection.I don't mind the spiky feet as their purpose is to minimize the contact between the stand and the ground, which isolates the unit from ground vibrations. I jumped around next to the table and the record didn't skip, so it works like a treat. And if you have hard floors or don't want to risk damaging your carpet, you can always use the included saucers (although word on the street is they're a pain to place unless you place the full unit down first and slip them under each corner, and I don't imagine they slide around very well) or purchase different feet - or leave them off entirely from the bottom and have the ends of the short posts under the bottom shelf be the feet (although this would be better for carpet than hard floor since the edges od the posts could dig in under the weight of everything on the shelves). I actually wish they had included an alternate set of threaded bolts with rounded tips instead of spikes that would function effectively the same as the spiked feet but not pierce the carpet. The main downside being that you have to lift the unit up into the air before being able to move it - so definitely figure out where you want it before setting all of your gear on it!One word of warning, however - the vinyl wrap (the carbon fiber looks awesome in person, by the way) can be sharp near the bottom edge of each shelf. I found this out the hard way when transporting it from my living room to the office where it now resides and sliced my thumb on the edge of the top shelf when turning it over. A band-aid solved that hiccup but I just thought I'd warn others as the unit should be handed with the utmost care (both for the sake of the shelf and your skin).All-in-all, I'm super satisfied with this purchase. You'd be hard pressed to find a quality (and good looking) rack made specifically for turntables at this price and the others I was looking at before pulling the trigger on this were well over $200 so even with purchasing the extra shelf, I think it was a good deal. One of the main reasons I went with this instead of any others is that the space between the thinner shelves is greater than many other 'made-for-turntable-setups' stands, which tend to have 4-6" of clearance on the receiver/amplifier tier. I'm using a Sony receiver that is 6" high so 7" of space was perfect, leaving a bit extra to allow it to breathe.

This stand was a great purchase! It is very easy to assemble without tools, I was able to do it all by hand in about 15 minutes. The instructions are a little confusing, because they are just pictures with no words, but it's easy to figure out (I did it by myself). Once assembled, this stand is very sturdy. The metal parts feel extremely robust, the MDF shelves are very thick (much thicker than I imagined they would be). The finish on the metal and the wood shelves is very nice, with no defects that I could find. Overall, the quality is fantastic for how little this cost (I got the black model for about $130).I have a large DAC, a stereo amp, and about 50 records on the stand, and it doesn't wobble at all. The feet are easy to adjust to make sure it's level/stable. Some people mentioned that they don't like the spikes, but they are there for a purpose, to help minimize how much vibration travels up the stand (which would make your record player skip/change the sound). So I'm a fan of the spikes, but everything is standard metric screw sizes, so you can easily find some other feet to swap in if you want.I will say the stand looks a bit plain and is more functional than decorative. It does not look bad at all, just simple. It was also packaged extremely well, there was a lot of cardboard, but I'm sure that helps prevent damage during shipping. I have no doubt that Pangea put a lot of thought into the design of this product and the packaging, and it shows. If you are looking for an affordable record stand, this is an extremely good buy.
