It's a classic stand. My second from Hamilton. The previous one had two pegs for doubling, but I'm taking this on the road and I don't need to double this time around. This comes in 3 parts. The stand screws into the base with a retaining screw. It's very secure. I think better than a folding design. The bottom fork also screws into one of two holes on the stand, depending on what sax is used.I noticed that some people would prefer a stand with clamps. In the home environment or when only using one horn, that's probably better, but if you're doubling and have literally seconds to switch, a free-standing one is better. You only get one chance to get it right. Pros also work with, hopefully, considerate people and have their instruments insured!! Many theaters also carry insurance that covers their musicians.

I have it setup to hold my Tenor and Alto in my workspace and it just works perfectly. Nothing broken or bent. Easy to setup.

you can take it apart to pack it around but if you want to do much of that get a fold up one. Holds the tenor fine, the flute peg fit, it can fit an alto by moving the lower rest to the upper position.

Very good stand, albeit a bit cheaply made. You get what you pay for.

This stand is very robust and well made. The tubular materials are thick and will not be easily damaged with relatively rough handling. My Alto sax rests comfortably on the stand, with the thumb rest of the sax seated on the lower curved padded bar, but it has to engage the curved, padded support bar, to the right or left of center, since the vertical post to which the curved support bar is attached, does not allow any clearance, to center the sax's thumb rest on the stand. So your sax will orient a bit to a sideways position on the stand, right or left. One feature is that the stand's curved support bar can be raised or lowered, by way of two different mounting holes, through which the threaded back side of the support bar can be detached and re-inserted into the upper or lower hole. I preferred the lower of the two holes for my Alto, which allows the upper neck of the sax to be in closer contact with the top curved bar. Using the lower mounting position for the bottom bar also lowers the center of gravity for the sax on the stand, making it a bit more stable. The top of the upper curved support bar is 18" off the floor, when in use.If I were to change anything on this very good stand, it would be to decrease the footprint of the tripod base, in a way that would minimize any "tripping hazard", in tight spaces, on stage or wherever you are displaying the sax.....maybe by switching to a flat round metal platform for the vertical components of the stand to attach to, since the tripod arms extend out about 10" from center. On the other hand, I realize the "folding" tripod design is obviously the best for portability since this stand is very compact when collapsed down. A round detachable disc base could still be 10" in diameter for stability, but the low profile, of a flat disc on the ground, would eliminate the tripping hazard, which could knock the instrument off of the stand, if someone happened to carelessly kick one of the legs when passing by.Also, the flute or clarinet peg (removable) is a nice additional amenity, although I will leave mine detached since I play neither instrument. Overall an excellent and well made product.
