took 15 days to get arrive after 3 delays and they just straight didn’t finish making one of the tubes. big ‘ol hole in the top. everything else seems fine, but c’mon, the one part I don’t have a spare of?i’ll up my review if the quality is good, if i ever get replacementsUPDATE: FRIED THE REPLACEMENTS WHICH COST MORE THAN THE ENTIRE KIT ITSELF. WORTHLESS CHINESE POS, DO NOT BUY.

The 6J1 tube operates with a plate voltage of only 46V, but it still performs the AF amplification without any issues. One LED is missing from the kit, thankfully, it’s not a critical component.

Had to double check the soldering joints on the through holes. Need to lay it out. Tack it down by bending some leads and be patient. It also takes 12vac transformer for power supply but if you know how to do it you should be able to tap in with dc after the rectifier diodes. I haven't needed to because it was a stand alone project.

Arrived within two days through Amazon Prime shipping. Unsure why Amazon did not post my initial review? The kit arrived in a nonstatic bag. The tubes were wrapped with deflated bubble wrap, I received two 6J1 tubes of different manufacturing, which initially worried me, but all was ok after assembly. This kit will require soldering skills, there are no instructions, but all parts were easy to identify. There are a lot of info on the internet about this amplifier for modding.

For starters, this thing is more like an audio boost than anything else. There's not much in the way of amplification, and I did use this in front of my guitar amp. I had to make some modifications to go from RCA to 1/4" jacks into my Boss Katana amp, but it really colors the sound about like you'd expect from a pair of tubes. If you crank the volume up all the way, it starts to break up just a little—which is great for amp-based guitar distortion.The kit does require some assembly, which is pretty straightforward if you match up the parts with what's printed on the PCB. It helps to have a multimeter on hand to double-check the resistor values, as they're not labeled, and my vision isn't good enough to tell by the stripes on them.Some folks have complained about the fact that there aren't any other instructions that come with it, so if you're not at least somewhat familiar with small signal electronics, you may want to start with a simpler project. But it's not that hard to match up the parts with the PCB labels.I'm still experimenting with it to see if I can make it into a driver for either a separate guitar effect—like a reverb tank or tremelo—or just an all around boost pedal. But for the price, you can't beat it. The PCB alone is probably worth around $7-10, although I've heard complaints about the layout. And the tubes that come with this kit aren't cheap, either. The lowest I've found them elsewhere is like $3/each, and that's if you order like four at a time or more.If you're looking to experiment with tubes on an audio project, this is an awesome starting point. It looks to me that this is just the bare bones version of one of those Douk headphones or record player amps they usually sell on here for around $70-80, but this one doesn't come with any sort of enclosure.If you're trying to find something to work as an actual audio amplifier, your probably not going to get much of a volume push from this one. Also, keep in mind that it requires a 12 AC power supply, NOT DC, and those are sold separately. Not sure why they couldn't have made a DC version, as it looks like there's some sort of rectification going on (the kit has five diodes). Also, someone a little more experienced than myself might be able to make it work with a 9 or 12v DC supply.I already ordered a second one to play around with. Fun stuff!
