we have several of these hue switches in the house and they all work great and i like their ability to program each button separately and they work well.

Being able to put this thing wherever you want, with still having the ability to use your scenes quickly and easily is outstanding. The Hue app also allows you to customize these fairly freely which makes them fit your scenarios easily. Glad I got these!

If you have a philips hue system installed this is a wonderful addition to any room. Highly programmable. My only complaint is the old version has “on” at the top and “off” at the bottom which i thought was simpler but more annoying is trying to remember which switches are the old style and which are the new style. Functionality wise i do like the new one better especially being able to program a long hold to turn OFF all lights in the house. Very useful.

Use these every day in multiple rooms. They've held up and work really well. I think over the years we've maybe had to change the batteries once per switch? So great battery life all around. My favourite feature is that they can be removed from the panel that comes with them (which is really easy to hang). Then because they have a magnet in the back, they can then be stuck onto a metal surface like a fridge.

Easy to setup tutorial. Adhesive on the mounting plate is very stick and won't fall off the wall. The remote stays secured even when it gets bumped from people walking around the house. Use many of these all around to control my lights. Love the versatility of putting these where is easiest and convenient

I have used Hue lights for many years, and I also own several smart home products from other brands. I'm primarily a HomeKit user, so my review will come from that perspective, although this is irrelevant to the typical use case for a switch like this.I previously resisted buying this refreshed version of the original Hue Dimmer Switch, as the way it works by default is a bit different from the original:• Instead of separate on and off switches, you now have a power toggle and a Hue button — the function of which may not seem obvious.• Instead of separate brighten/dim buttons, they are a single piece that works like a rocker. It turns out my concerns about the changes were nothing to worry about, as you can easily customize the functionality of these buttons within the Hue app, and you have a lot of flexibility in how you can set it up.I was pleased to discover that the design of this switch has been improved over the old version in several ways:• The switch surfaces fully extend to the sides (without a border around them), which means it's easier to press the top and bottom buttons while fumbling in the dark. There's also a helpful locator dot (like on the "F" and "J" keys on a keyboard to help you determine what the "On" button is.• The back is rounded subtly, making it easier to slide it into the included bracket.• There's a ridge on the back of the remote that slots into a groove on the bracket, which means it's pretty difficult to accidentally push the remote off the bracket when it's held in by the magnet.• The bracket now has proper holes so you can screw it onto a standard switch box — if you don't need to physically turn the power to the light off, you can (after turning the breaker off, please don't electrocute yourself) remove the original switch, use a wire nut to twist the wires together, and then screw the bracket over the outlet. No more concerns with your kids leaving the switch off!• As mentioned, the dim/brighten control is now a single panel, but there are still two buttons. So while it's harder to feel the difference between them in the dark, you don't lose functionality, and I suppose this makes the switch easier to wipe clean.• The battery compartment is much easier to access. The old design required loosening a tiny screw with a tiny screwdriver and carefully prying open a clip that would often break. This design uses a door that can be opened with any flat object, like a dime, table knife, or flathead screwdriver. If you like, you can still make the Hue button at the bottom behave like an off switch to work like a normal Decora switch, or you can make it trigger a different set of scenes. Or both at the same time, which works better than you'd think! You can also make either button cycle through scenes. Unfortunately, the functionality of the dim buttons is more limited within the Hue app — I don't know why they don't just let you trigger scenes with these buttons if you want. The typical way of configuring this switch within the Hue app is probably going to be the most reliable way to offer control of Hue lights, but if you need more abilities, you can also configure this in third-party apps, like Apple Home. If you do this, the switch works in a slightly different way, where you get four dedicated buttons that can essentially run automations or trigger scenes, and I've found this to be flexible, although it doesn't offer 1:1 functionality compared to the Hue app. For example, in Hue you can cycle through up to five scenes by pressing a button multiple times, but I couldn't find a way to do this in Home.I was worried that controlling this switch through Home would not be as reliable as controlling it with the Hue app, but it has mostly been fine, and I haven't noticed significant delays in turning lights on with this setup. Doing this confers the huge benefit that you can control nearly anything in your home, and you're not limited to just Hue products. So I can turn on my Govee Lamps, star projector, etc., all with one button. If you're creative and willing to tinker, you can probably do quite a lot by configuring the buttons to run automations and combinations of scenes.Overall, I'm very happy with the Hue Smart Dimmer Switch and find it a really useful addition to my smart home.

My home project earlier this year was converting a lot of my home lights to Smart lighting. For a while these were backordered and I had the simple one push smart buttons but mostly because I just couldn't access these. I wish I had started with these! I was able to obtain three of them. The plate was easy to install and looks nice with the existing hardware for a 2000s constructed house. It involves just screwing in a base plate and snapping on the top plate. The remote easily attaches with the magnet to the base and is very portable, attaches strongly to stay put but isn't so strong you have to wrench the remote off. Sometimes in the dark I have flailed at it and knocked it out of the groove but that's pretty infrequent. The settings are interesting - the top button can be set to either be a specific single brightness for a room/zone/set of lights, dimmer works well but is a bit slow in speed. HUE switches between a set of up to five scenes that you can program for the zone or room.I have my home exit switch which is in my 'mud room area' set to 'turn off all lights after holding for three seconds' and this easily lets me shut off all lights in my house on my way out. The HUE button is what's most convenient for my uses, because of all my rooms my bedroom has eleven separate lights (in a variety of towers, nightstand, accent lights, and torch). There are some times I just want to turn on a few lights when I'm zipping in to grab something and don't want every single light on. The 'power' top switch I have set to a nice incandescent color. For the scenes, I set the first one as a limited scene with just one tower and the torch so I get enough light to see by but don't have to turn on every single light. Multiple presses then go into my favorite four scenes afterwards. In essence this is a like a two button 'on' switch where I can use the Hue to get to a more efficient pattern, all from one single switch site. I have these also set up for my living room, where power is the full shebang and then HUE is only a overhead light over my computing desk - which makes it super convenient to use one single switch site to control multiple looks of lights. It's so easy to swap things around once you have the switches in place. So far so good!

So worth it. I love the ease of not having to pull out my phone and use the app but still having our customized programs. The dimmer function is also great to have.I would appreciate an easier adaptation for doing a dim to off program on demand rather than at a set time. As it is you can set up a long hold press or replace one of the current button functions, but it's not straight forward to figure out.
