My very first thought when the package arrived was a little Meh. Just a plain brown cardboard box, stuffed full of 8 bubble wrap bags, and 8 large white plastic mounting bases for 6x6 posts. But, once I started unpacking the items, what I saw was a clever design with interchangeability. In fact, so slick, I was temporarily frustrated when I tried to place one of the lights on my porch 4” vinyl railing post and it wouldn't fit. Fortunately, I don’t give up too easily. It turns out that the lights ship with an insert that makes the lights mount on a post that is smaller, maybe a 3”x3” post. Once I popped that out it fits perfectly on the post. With just a ¼ turn of the light housing and it lifts off the mounting base. On the bottom of the housing there is a paper tab that needs to be pulled out to let the battery make contact. There is also a push button switch, that takes you from off, to warm white, to cold white, then back to off. I prefer the cold bright white light, but I do like having the option of using warm lighting as well. There are 2 ways to mount depending upon the type of post. You can screw down the mounting base down from the top, then you place the light housing onto the base and twist it cack in place and you’re all set. If the post is hollow or can’t be screwed down from the top, you can screw in horizontally into the vinyl post. Then repeat the other posts. I have 8 posts, xo the 8 count was perfect. When the light switch is in an on position (Warm or Cold) there is a photocell that turns the lights on when it gets dark and off when it gets light out. My front porch and stairs face South, so my solar panels get plenty of sunshine when the sun shines in Western Pennsylvania. The lights burn all night long and are still lit when I leave for work. I like the style of this set, there are so many different styles, but these are a nice clean design. I’m very pleased. One other thing that just popped into my head is that the batteries appear to be replaceable. There is a battery cover that flips up and the battery appears to be a rechargeable AAA size. Time will tell as to how long these lights will last, but I have no reason to suspect that the wont last for years.

These lights work great. Our posts are covered by the fencing but I was still able to use these with longer screws. They look great and give off a good amount of light. I actually just ordered 2 more dozen to run along the rest of the fence. They are also lasting all night. My husband leaves for work about 5am and they are still on.

These post lights are easy to install. While I like the overall design of the lights, the actual light output does not look at all like they are advertised.WHAT YOU GET6 x post cap lights that measure 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 1 3/4". They are designed to fit on standard 4 x 4 posts. Each light comes individually packaged in bubble wrap. An instruction and troubleshooting pamphlet is provided.INSTALLATION AND LIGHT OUTPUTThe lights come in 2 parts: the base plate (with 4 screw holes to secure the light) and a twist off top that has the LED and solar power components. Installation is easy, but no screws were provided. I just searched my random screw collection to mix-match and get the job done. There is plenty of depth to the base plate, so it doesn't matter if the screws are flush or not, you can't see them and they won't interfere with connecting the top part. Once you set the base to the post, pull out the tab on the underside of the top part (the light won't work if you leave the tab in). Line up the tabs on the bottom of the top piece with the receptors on the base plate and twist to lock in place. The instructions state the solar panel needs 6-8 hours of sunlight access to work properly (just need to be in an unshaded area). The light output is not as advertised. The pictures show these lights emitting more of a bright amber light and if you look closely, it appears there is a gold strip along the base that generates the amber tone. The lights I received have no gold trim around the base, all exterior parts are black, the lens is clear and the underside of the top are white. The light emitted from these lights are white and not as bright as advertised. Additionally, in contrast to the images shown, these lights are screwed into the post end, not on the post sides. While these are not exactly what I thought they were, I still like the subtleness of the light output. I want these simply to accent our mailbox and deck, not to land planes, so the misleading images aren't problematic. I also like the ease of installation.

Stylish solar post lights for backyard projects! I recently built planter boxes in my back yard and wanted to add post lights to see the garden while sitting on the back deck. I found these solar lights and decided to give them a try, they work great!!The lights fit a regular wooden post (3.5 x 3.5) and also vinyl posts(4 x 4). To secure the lights to a wooden post, you can use the included screws to secure the bottom of the lights. After assembly, the screws are hidden. If you use a vinyl post, there are two holes on opposite sides you can use to secure the lights. Those screws will be visible. The lights are solar and charge automatically during the day and run all night. The rechargeable battery is replaceable, and the lights also have an on/off button if you decide you don't want them on.Should you want to take the lights apart for cleaning, you can twist the base and top to take it apart. It goes back together easily too.If you are looking to add accent or path lighting to your backyard, give these stylish looking solar lights a try!
