Bought this to have some adaptability in the way I mount or support wood lathe projects. Just used it for the first time ( non-golf season is when I do most of my lathe work ) and it worked well. I was a bit concerned that the bearing would be rough or it wouldn't be centered properly but both worries were misplaced.

Adapter did what I was hoping for. It helped to line up my segmented rings more accurately with colejaws on it and a 4 jaw chuck and the base on the headstock

This is a cool little device that allows you to install a chuck on your tail stock. I did this to turn thin balusters. By gripping two ends with chucks you effectively increase the stiffness of the baluster to a baluster 1/4 in length. You can almost turn the balusters with no steady rest. Of course the Steady makes things even more rigid.I installed a NOVA MIDI CHUCK on it and it has been working pretty well for me. One big plus is thatI don't have to center drill my wood for a live center. As far as quality goes it seems to be as good as any live center. My setup has a little visible run out, maybe 0.01" at most. I'm not sure if it was the chuck or the adapter since I haven't had the need to investigate it. It is plenty adequate for wood work. It will fit into a metal lathe tail stock but it may not be accurate enough for you??? It also has a nut that holds the bearing in that I had to tighten up. We'll see if this is a continuing problem. So I knocked off a star for those two issues.Overall Impression - It is a good value for the money and I would buy it again.
