Worked perfectly out of the box. Has decent sound and mic not bad for the price range

After owning the pulse explore, I was curious to see how much better the Elites were. And from what I can tell, the sound quality is similar but I do think the Elite are a touch better the the explore. I suggest using the “bass boost” over the standard because the highs are a bit to sharp but hey, you can customize your own audio profile. Now, the battery life is significantly greater compared to the explore and original pulse 3D. I usually game for 1-2 hours so the Elite’s battery life is good enough for me. The ear cups feel more comfortable compared to the pulse 3D and I wear glasses. As for the mic, it’s improved from the explore since you can retract it. The mic quality is “good” but it’s missing that warmth and bass from like the black shark v2 pro 2023. Overall, I’m happy with the elites, it’s cheaper than the pulse explore and you get a pretty good bang for your buck.

The Pulse 3D headphones are a high-quality and immersive audio experience that is perfect for gamers and music enthusiasts alike. With its advanced audio technology, these headphones provide an incredible level of audio detail and accuracy that can't be matched by standard headphones. One of the standout features of the Pulse 3D headphones is their 3D audio technology. This technology creates a three-dimensional sound experience that makes you feel like you're in the middle of the action. This is especially useful for gamers who want to hear every footstep or sound effect in their favorite games. The Pulse 3D headphones also have dual noise-canceling microphones that filter out background noise, making it easier for you to communicate with your team during multiplayer games or video calls. This means you won't have to worry about any distractions while gaming or chatting with friends. The headphones are also designed for comfort. They have soft and breathable ear cushions that fit comfortably over your ears, even during long gaming sessions. The headphones are also lightweight and have an adjustable headband that ensures a secure and comfortable fit for any head size.Another great thing about the Pulse 3D headphones is their compatibility. They're specifically designed for the PlayStation 5, but they also work seamlessly with other devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This makes them a versatile choice for anyone who wants high-quality audio on the go.Overall, the Pulse 3D headphones are a fantastic choice for gamers and music enthusiasts who want an immersive and high-quality audio experience. Alright, so I've bought a few PlayStation branded headphones in the past, such as the Pulse Elite. Unfortunately, the Pulse Elite's were the worst headphones I have ever bought from a name brand, and the quality of the plastic quite literally cracked under pressure. They fell apart after less than a year of use.So, going into this thing, I was a bit skeptical that the Pulse 3D's would be much better. Thankfully, the Pulse 3D uses a different type of band style, which is not only more comfortable than the older Pulse Elite, but also due to the lack of any key pressure points, should also prove to be quite a bit more durable, too. That isn't to say that the build quality is good. Oh, goodness no. It's still a very cheap feeling pair of headphones, made out of a cheap plastic that feels like, if you so much as drop it onto a pillow, they'll snap in half. Truly, the plastic doesn't feel very strong, and I would definitely argue against giving these things to a younger child, or somebody that is prone to throwing their headphones around. With that said, I don't expect for these things to break on me, despite the plastic feeling cheap to the touch. The problem with the Pulse Elite, was the thin plastic that held the ear cups to the rest of the band. The plastic was too thin to handle the weight of the cups, and would form hairline cracks after a few months of use. These cracks would eventually result in the entire headset breaking. It would quite literally fall apart under its own weight. The Pulse 3D's, on the other hand, consist of what appears to be one solid piece of plastic, with the size adjustment being a separate silicone-like band. This is an immense improvement over the older Pulse headsets Sony put out for the PS3 and PS4 era of gaming, so I gotta give them huge props for that.Beyond the build quality being sub-par, the audio quality - arguably the most important thing on an audio-focused device - leaves a lot to be desired. Now, don't get me wrong; these aren't bad, by any stretch of the word. They are, by all rights, a decent sounding pair of budget headphones. The problem, however, comes from the fact that they're selling these things for $130 Canadian dollars, instead of the $40 or $60 that they're seemingly actually worth. I've legitimately used better headphones, including some from Sony themselves, for over half the price of the Pulse 3D. I've even used Bluetooth headphones, which also support 3.5mm audio cables, that sound better than the Pulse 3D's, despite being $70 cheaper. The $60 headphones that I own offer better sound, more features, better general versatility, and are, by all rights, simply better than the Pulse 3D's.The Pulse 3D's also play heavily into the "virtual surround sound" advantages of Sony's Tempest audio engine, but no, you don't need these headphones to experience virtual surround sound. The Tempest audio engine is built into the PS5 itself, and literally any pair of wired headphones that you can plug into your PS5 DualSense controller will work with that engine. So do not buy these thinking you need them to experience "How Games Were Meant To Sound", because quite frankly, that's just a marketing tagline. Other headphones will sound better. I also much prefer other audio engines over the Tempest engine, such as Dolby Atmos. Though, your milage may vary, and the listening experience ultimately comes down to ones own personal preference. However, I'm strictly comparing the accuracy of the surround sound, and Tempest simply doesn't quite match Dolby Atmos. And yet, I'm giving the Pulse 3D a 4 star rating. Why?Well, that's simple. You see, there are definitely far better and cheaper options out there, many of which will sound better than the Pulse 3D's. However, there aren't any that are seemingly as well optimized for the PlayStation 5 as the Pulse 3D's are. These are the perfect PS5 campaign headphones. Sure, they don't sound great, but they're "good enough" for gaming. Yeah, the microphones are tinny, but again, "good enough" for gaming. The battery life isn't that great, but once again, it's "good enough" for gaming. Do I have to charge these things up after every single use? Yeah, I do. But that's fine. Because it can easily last my entire gaming session on a full charge. So, do I recommend the Pulse 3D? Well, yes, but also no. As of today, it's arguably the best headset you can buy for the PS5, so long as you use it exclusively with the PS5, and nothing else. It's convenient to use, has decent sound, offers decent comfort, has a decent microphone, and despite my concerns for the build quality, I rather like the design and overall aesthetics of the headset. It matches the design of the PS5 and DualSense controllers perfectly, which if visual appearances are important to you as a consumer, the Pulse 3D really is the best thing you can buy.Yet, it's not the best headset you can buy. There are far better options out there, and so long as they support a 3.5mm connection, they too will support the PS5. But should you buy one of those, instead of the Pulse 3D? Well, that's up to you. What do you value most? Do you want the best sounding headphones, with the best microphone? Then yeah, avoid the Pulse 3D, as better options indeed exist. However, do you simply want an all-in-one package that matches the aesthetics of your PS5 perfectly, while still offering an OK audio experience? Then the Pulse 3D might be for you. Just remember, better options exist, and many are sold at a lower price, too.
