I was able to replace my old auto drain valve (which was difficult to get out) with this one. So far so good.I wrapped the threads in Teflon/PTFE tape for about 4 turns and hand-tightened it in.I read another review where this broke in 2 (top came off the threads) from trying to tighten with pliers... so I did not attempt using a tool because it would have been incredibly difficult to get the threaded part out due to very limited access. This thing is plastic... but it works. Hopefully it will last a long time.

I prefer this drain style to the ones with the felt on the bottom. This style is less prone to clogging over time. Just a little pricey, but the quality is definitely there.

Ran a pvc water line under a deck I’m building so I’m not dragging hoses across it and the height makes accessing the silcock inconvenient. With a little slope on the line, it drains completely when pressure is bled off so I can not worry about it during winter.
