This robust pressure-compensating emitter provides a high 5.0 gallon-per-hour flow rate. Ideal for watering root zones of large landscape plants, shrubs, bushes, small trees and large-size containers. Rain Bird's pressure-compensating design ensures all plants receive the desired watering rate regardless of their position along the distribution tubing run. Uniform flow is delivered throughout a wide pressure range from 15 to 50 PSI. Barbed ends securely retain 1/4" Drip tubing for a leak-proof connection. Self-piercing barb allows for direct insertion into the side of 1/2" or larger Drip irrigation tubing, or use with 1/4" tubing for positioning near individual plants. Simple to insert by hand, or for faster installation use one of Rain Bird’s insertion tools (sold separately): ET/1PK25S, HPUN1-1S, and HPTCX. Designed with large water passages and self-flushing action to help prevent clogging. Constructed of highly durable UV and chemical-resistant materials to withstand adverse conditions. Rain Bird emitters are color coded to easily identify flow rate. In most applications, this emitter's high flow rate will require installation (easy push-on) of an included diffuser cap. Order was to be overnight by USPS, they took to long to deliver so I ordered this from Home Depot got them the next day free shipping. And when USPS finally delivered I returned the first order. Do not use USPS. Gave this 3 stars because of USPS.

I have ordered. about 6 packs of the 5 gal drip emitters as I have large trees to water during drought. I also have squirrels that chew anything sticking out above ground. About 4 out of 30 did not function right out of the box. Since setup 3 months ago, 6 additional ones have quit functioning.

Just completed installation of my fifth drip irrigation system. The first two were no-name clones from China and no e of the various style emitters couldn’t be adjusted on low pressure runs. The last ⅛ turn went from flooding the roots to barely a trickle = either way too much or way too little water.In contrast, the color-coded Rain Bird emitters consistently deliver 0.5 to 5.0 Gallons Per Minute - so it’s easy to fine tune how much moisture each plant receives by selecting one with a different flow rate. I typically use this 5 GPM one for larger shrubs or trees where the goal is to fully saturate the entire root circle.This latest version is smaller than the ones bought a few years ago, and having the diffuser caps included saves time and money. Adding diffusers at the end of each branch prevents the stream from washing away soil and keeps spiders and bugs from crawling into the feeder lines and clogging them up.I've never been disappointed by Rain Bird technology.

Get the real thing. The amount of time I've spent on the cheaper version make the rain bird seem like a real bargain. They don't clog.It's important to clip on the diffuser for the 5 gpm versions, as the water will squirt everywhere if you don't. Not an issue on the 1 gpm and 2 gpm, as they just naturally dribble. Don't throw away the diffusers.
