I purchased this item as a gift for someone who is a big Tolkien fan, and who enjoys hiking and being outdoors. This item is mediocre on both counts.It had major discolouration on the cover that made the wording difficult to make out, and the needle is poorly fitted and wobbles with the slightest touch. Even reading something as simple as the general direction of North requires that it be placed on a flat surface, then forces you to wait several minutes because the needle refuses to settle in any one direction. Lastly, the word “does” in the first line is misspelled as “dose”.Extremely poor quality product that satisfies neither form, nor function. I will be returning this and will not be looking to buy anything else of theirs.

Great gift, but not the best working compass. The compass is beautiful. It is accurate. But it’s more of a desk piece than a professional compass. It does not have number degradations.

It’s nice, the poem on the back is very nice, but definitely not functional and does not work for real life situations. It is decorative piece only, so disappointing for the money you spend it’s not actually functional.

Pretty accurate. A little more bulky than I expected. Not a complaint, just thought it was worth noting. Nice case for it, to carry on belt or something. I'm happy with it.
