Fabulous. So much better than the metal ones from when I was learning. Tone is noticeably richer and darker even when using the exact same mouthpiece and reed.

I want a darker tone and hope this will improve things. I've been using a Rovner Versa ligature and have no complaints when using traditional cane reeds. However, the synthetic reeds I'm experimenting with are very smooth on the bottom surface. They scoot around on the mouthpiece and I almost need a third hand to keep them in place when mounting the Versa ligature with its metal spine. The Mark III has no such encumbrances, making the reed easier to keep stationary during installation. That alone is worth the cost.

This ligature is excellent compared to any metal ligature as it is less prone to misalignment, and allows the reed and instrument to sound their best. It is also reasonably priced compared with many alternatives.
