I was having to replace the door gasket on my wood burning stove every fall. I have been using this one for two seasons and it still looks like new.

Gasket kit provided adequate length for sealing my pellet stove door. I went to larger diameter gasket than the 1/2” suggested by stove manufacturer to assure good seal. Did not use adhesive provided in kit because in the past this adhesive did not secure gasket well and failed in short time. Instead I used a high temperature rtv adhesive for automotive application that works much better. So far new gasket installation is working fine and appears to be holding up well with high stove temperatures and daily door opening and closing.

Used this on my fireplace. Follow the directions. It took a few days for a few fumes to go away while the liquid part of the product cured, or whatever you call it.

Since the original gasket had to be replaced, we have used a different brand that would disintegrate in no time. I hadn't thought to look online until recently after my husband mentioned the one that came out was grey, not white. I found this and it is making the stove an airtight again. This product wasn't available in the stores in our area or we wouldn't have gone through the frustration of using the other product that did not do the job and had to keep being replaced. Very happy with it!

Rope was great. Glue was hard and very difficult to squeeze out and when id did come out it was a quick blob, that had to be spread out with scraper...

Better than the white fiberglass rope, and the adhesive actually works unlike the waterglass that comes with the other. It being black, it blends in with the stove as well so it's not noticed

Talk about timing - I just installed this today. As I was waiting for the glue to dry, I got this request for a review.Overall - no complaints with the product. This was my first time replacing the Rope Gasket, so let me give my fellow newbies some advise.** Wear Latex Painters gloves !!! **1). Don't do the work in your Den. The glue is messy and hard, if not impossible, to remove from carpet once it dries (I had a cloth down, but you still get glue on your fingers and if you touch something - DEAD MAN!2). In my case: Glue is Black, Stove is Black, Rope is Black - which can make it difficult to spot glue spills/leaks to be cleaned-up, so work in a VERY well lit area.3). Get yourself a 2" wire brush wheel for your cordless drill. It makes cleaning out the channel on the door SO MUCH easier. Use a small flat-headed screw driver for those hard-to-get spots.4). Another messy note - when I first went to apply the Glue, there was a partially dried piece of glue in the tip that I didn't know about. Nothing was coming out, so I squeezed harder. Then suddenly a glob of glue burst out. Luckily I was pointed at the channel, so I just used my finger to spread the glob of glue down the channel. Had I been pointing at the glass on the door - ugh. (although the glue does cleanup fairly well with a damp paper-towel and soap.)5). The instructions say to lay a bead of glue in the channel just enough to hold the rope. Well, how the hell much is that??? Anyway - expect glue to ooze out as you lay the rope in the channel. Use a damp towel to clean-up as you go. Frankly, it's hard NOT to get glue all over the place on the door and all over the rope. My guess is that a small bead of glue - about the diameter of 2 coffee stirrers(??) should be fine. I did about twice that and had glue oozing out the sides of the rope as I was laying it in place. My concern now is that once it dries, my rope (in sections) will be hard and not flexible enough to seal properly - oh well, time will tell and practice makes perfect.6). I used a very sharp box-cutter to cut the rope to size. Very sharp scissors should work fine too.Other than that, the instructions were very clear and simple. My only concern is that this rope seems a bit smaller in diameter than the factory rope I'm replacing (I have a QuadraFire 41i-ACC Wood Stove). The parts section of my manual doesn't list the rope diameter, so I looked up the part# and found a site that listed it as 5/8". The factory rope looks to be thicker - maybe 3/4(??)". Hopefully the 1/8" difference won't be an issue - we'll see.Once the glue dries, the instructions say to light a fire slowly to 500F to fully cure the glue. I'll try to report back on how well the door seals at that point.
