I applied over a dirt pile where a tree used to be and it grew! Including over some exposed roots! I was pleased although has to do a few applications to thicken but that's not unlike all grass seeds.

We used this more for patchy areas ranging from 2 square feet to 6 square feet. Grass was really bad in the month of May (Cambridge, On) so we did a treatment and followed watering and cutting lawn directions....4 weeks later so so results....so then 2 weeks after that (6 weeks since initial treatment) we did another treatment and by 1st week of August the lawn looked great. So the end of September I decided to pull up 8 different areas with crabgrass that left large chunks missing do I reseeded the areas. By end of October normal green grass was flourishing and I never watered once, I just let the weather do its thing.

I bought two bags of this stuff and my grass still looks awful. Followed the directions perfectly, raked first, spread the seed, kept the soil wet, it wasn’t too hot nor too cold, we’ve had lots of rain and sunshine to help me along... it’s been three weeks and nothing happened. What a waste of money. Super dissatisfied.EDIT: it’s the following YEAR: (MAY 2020) and looking at my brown, dead lawn the grass did eventually thicken up and bare spots filled. It took months and months to really make a difference though. I really had to be patient with this though and I did not see growth after a few weeks. It did help my lawn in the end, so 3 stars.
