As a relatively new bass player making my first purchase, this was a great buy. The look is what drew me in but the sound is better than I expected. I had been practicing on a short scale Epiphone bass prior and this Squier blew it out of the water. I did find the bottom frets on the neck to be a bit "sharp" at first. Some research said it's natural for the wood to compress / expand depending on temperature and that the frets could be sanded down. After playing an 1+ hour a day the last few weeks the sharpness is basically gone.

This is a great sounding and great looking bass. Was ready to play out of the box—just tune it up and plug it in. Tried the Fender version of this bass and I really couldn’t tell much difference other than the price tag.

A nice bass at a good price, but like everything at lower prices, there are trade-offs to be made. Like the sharp corners of the fingerboard. 3 minutes with a piece of 150 gt. sandpaper will make this Fretless Jazz Bass joy to behold. I'm not a big fan of finish on a neck, so I sanded it off (there goes the warranty) and it is a lot of fun to play. Makes for a really good improvement platform, though not much needs improvement on this 60 yr old design of Leo's. The pickups will do and they certainly are good enough to record and play with until I place in my favourite pickups. I'm a happy camper, for sure.

Nice bass at a decent price on sale but had to return because of ski-jump neck that had major forward curve between nut and ninth fret even with little string tension and snug truss rod. With strings at proper tension the curve in the neck was unable to be straightened even at maximum safe truss rod tension (about 4 full turns or more!). I took the string off and left truss rod tight and the neck then had a back bow the other way. This indicates a very poor quality neck with little strength that bends either way easily. Not a good quality in a bass neck. I think it is the choice of lumber and maybe the curing process of wood? In any case I don't think this is a one-off. This will be a systemic problem with that lot, or maybe all these low budget Indonesian builds using c-grade wood? Avoid these if you want an instrument to play, and for more than a few weeks before it pends past point of any adjustment. Just get a used Mexican Fender if you like the brand IMHO.

Super, alles gut gelaufen. Tolles Instrument, wenig Gewicht und kann mit meinem Custom-Shop Bass mithalten. Ist auch absolut Gigtauglich. Für schmale Geldbeutel geeignet und trotzdem ein tolles Spielerlebnis.

Really great bass for the money, though I hear Harley Benton is a better bang for bucks for beginners and as a beginner the Affinity is cheaper too. But I like this one as it has a more vintage look. The bass came with the pick-guard screws, screwed in really badly, some of them are screwed in at an angle. Not good! I have swapped out the bridge for a cheap hi-mass bridge as the original bridge wasn't flush with the body. It was screwed too tight and the bridge sunk into the body at the back of the bass. the new cheap high mass bridge covers the indentation in the body underneath the original bridge, but the bridge to body contact is less than optimal. The sound hasn't really changed after the bridge swap. I intend to replace the pickups even-though they are not bad at all. The neck and playability is great so I'll be able to make it sound like a real vintage 60's P-bass for $2000 dollar less. Recommended as a mod platform if you don't mind the problems I had. It sure has the looks and the neck is a perfect with between an original P-Bass and a (too) Narrow Jazz Bass, if you are a beginner the Affinity is more than good enough.

First thing that stood out was a small tag with a cancer warning with no other details. Are these lead strings or what? Packaging wasn't robust but it arrived in one peace. Overall it seems decent. You will want to oil the frett board as it doesn't look like it has been treated. See one of my pics to see a before and after shoot. I will have to spend some time setting it up as there is some static crackling with the tone turn up. Hoping it's not a hardware issue. Some of my amp sims are not as bad as others. The volume nob wobbles a bit. Not in a loose way more like it wasn't threaded properly. Not really a big deal. It's my first bass. Looks good, sounds pretty good. So for a starter it's a decent buy.

Wow.. the quality is near perfect for a budget bass guitar. I have a Gibson guitar and the quality of both are pretty much the same. It sounds really great as well. I would definitely recommend it for 95% of bass players… only professionals would have to be equipped with a better quality bass.

Jealous is the only way to describe how this Bass makes other people feel when they hear it and hear what I paid for it.. I also have a sunburst, turtle shell squier strat that is a lefty I flipped over for my Hendrix set, and its the same way. People hate that it sounds so good and plays so swell.
