This valve has a different profile than the original but fits and works as a replacement for my older RV stove. The on/off stem was longer so I cut it down to match the height of the original. The old knob marker line is backward when you turn unit off and on. No big deal, but this leads me to believe there is a right and left valve to install in the stove. The pictures show the original broken valve, the model number of my stove, and the working gas stove after replacement.

This repair was so easy to accomplish. I used a screwdriver and a 21mm wrench to finish the entire job. Be sure to turn off the gas at the tank before you start and to smell around afterwards to make sure there are no leaks.

This valve works with earlier sd3 model stove but as other have mentioned the stem length is longer. This is the stem the knob attaches to and is metal, you will need to cut it to length to match your older style valve. A hacksaw or grinder makes quick work of it. All the other dimensions appeared to be the same. Works and looks great on our older suburban 3 burner stove from 2003.

I was unable to find a replacement top burner valve for my older Suburban stove top model SD-2 part # 161142. I took a chance and found that this valve fit my older stove with a simple modification. The relevant difference between the two valves is that the on/off-knob stem of the new valve is about a 1/2" longer than the older valve, and sticks up a little higher through the range top. The rest of the valve looked slightly different, but the dimensions matched, and bolted up just like the old valve. I was easily able to eyeball, and cut off the excess stem length with a hack saw. (Do this before bolting on the new valve) The knob fit on the shortened stem just right, and everything worked perfectly. Make sure to slip off the short black plastic tube from the end of the orifice of the old valve, and slip it onto the orifice end of the new valve before mounting the burner. The plastic tube centers the orifice exactly in the middle of the burner tube.
