Bought my first unit in silver out of a lack of patience to replace an older Topping VX1 model that had no sub out and about 1/3 the power output. Old unit still runs fine, note power supplies are not interchangeable despite same barrel plug connector. This is not a defect or issue, just a PSA for anyone who makes the mistake of thinking the new power supply would work as an upgrade for the old VX1 unit.Bought a second in black when they were available because they are simply just a very good little amp for the price. Fairly neutral sound signature, maybe a little on the analytical side vs traditional amps or tube amps but I've heard that is simply just how a lot of these little amps are. Would give sound vs a $3000 amp 9.2 The DAC is great and the amp itself is also darn good for the money and is able to drive my Monitor Audio Silver RS6's and Monitor Audio Silver 50g7's just fine.Built in EQ is super easy to use and lets you know when you have it adjusted vs normal. The volume dial is fine and has satisfying tactile bumps when turning. Pushing dial swaps input, couldn't tell you what exactly all the other functions you can do with the dial are, but the remote works great so long as you can very directly point it at the unit from no more than 10ish feet away.Works great with my powered sub LFE in from the amp. sub volume is directly tied to amp volume but thankfully can be adjusted after the fact on the back of my sub as well. The DAC in this amp as a standalone is competitive with higher end equipment. No it does not "beat" a $1500 musical paradise DAC, but why would you expect it to at the price? An untrained ear will likely not notice any difference.Only oddity i've had with both units so far is a bit of popping and volume weirdness while using USB and changing the volume within windows. One side will go louder or quieter very suddenly when below 20 in windows. Occurs worst when adjusting volume via logitec g915 volume dial, only occurs very mildly when using volume slider in windows. Optical input does not exhibit this issue on either unit and volume can be adjusted without worry via even keyboard volume dial for windows.Aoshida Audio has also been a very pleasant company to purchase a product from, reaching out for feedback on my use and inquiring about my second purchase in a short timespan to ensure there were no issues with the first unit. I would never hesitate to suggest a Topping product to someone based on my experience with the company (3 vx1's throughout different households that are 10+ years old, think dad has one of their DAC's and now my 2 MX3s's.
