Not much to critique, but also not much that stands out, since it's just part of a system. All I can really say, is it does it's job solidly, so for $20 it's good. Cable could be a bit thicker, or more durable, but it's woven in between the Molle on my plate carrier so it doesn't need to be stellar.

I rewired it to work. Just snip the red wire to the button and connect it to the black wire of the 3.5mm jack. I didn't have a soldering iron at hand so i twisted them together and hope any shock won't loosen the connection.

Voice transmits whether or not the PTT button is pushed as if the switch was stuck. Headset speakers do not work on phone calls but they work fine for music and videos.
