I use this USB switch to share a printer with my husband and it works well. We used to have two printers but then one of them stopped working so I ordered these to see if we could share one printer. We both use Mac desktops. Every now and then my computer won't recognize the printer, but then I just toggle the button back and forth once and it connects. It was very easy to connect even though I'm not a techy person. I'm very happy with it!

The USB switch allows you to seamlessly switch between USB peripherals, I recommend this product and will save you time and effort. The casing is durable and protects the inner components. The functionality of the item allows you to easily connect it up to the computer and USB equipment allowing you to rapidly switch. The item is lower in cost but the value remains consistent with other brands.

I use a backup scheme with two USB drives only one of which is "online" at a time, so there's no need to use up two USB ports on the computer. I switch them periodically. The idea is that if the worst should happen, I can restore from the drive that was offline at the time of the disaster. Since I use free software I only backup my home directory; everything else I can get online. To make the switch, I unmount and then turn off the one being "switched out". Then I push the button on this switch, and finally turn on the other (which then automounts).

I have limited space on my desk so I'm using this to use the same keyboard with two different computers. It works great, and was super easy to set up. Just plug it in and go!

REVIEW OF: USB 3.0 Switch Selector, Bi-Directional USB Switch 1 in 2 out / 2 in 1 out, USB Switcher 2 Computers Share 1 USB Devices for Printer, Keyboard, Scanner, Mouse, USB Switch Compatible with Mac/Win/LinuxA real nice little USB 3.0 selector switch. As described, this switch is bi-directional. It can be used to connect to one computer to allow you to select between two different USB devices... or to switch one USB device (such as a printer) between two separate computers.It works exactly as described.A couple of points to keep in mind:(1)... for the low selling price, don't expect USB cables to come along with the package.You will need additionally buy the necessary USB cables required for your installation.(2)... another reviewer mentioned that this device was not to the USB standard...There isn't really a USB standard for switchers. I suspect the manufacturer decidedon using the most ubiquitous USB connector type (USB-A) to make it easily usedin most configurations.(3)... before installing/using this switch, I FIRST made sure that all the USB devicesthat I wanted to use were already first configured and working on my PCs.(4)... Although you can connect USB1 or USB2 devices through this switch I made sureif I had to "add" any jumper cables that the were USB3. (because, for example,you cannot(should not) power/connect a USB3 device using a USB1 or USB2 cable).(BUT you can connect USB1 or USB2 devices using USB3 cables!)SWITCHING MULTIPLE USB DEVICES BETWEEN 2 PCs: If you purchase separately a USB3 HUB, you can connect a number of devices (keyboard, mouse, printer, flash-drive) to the USB hub all at once and then connect your USB3 hub to this switch. This would allow you to switch a multiple number of USB devices back and forth between two separate computer - a sort of "partial" KVM - switching Keyboard, mouse (and etc.) between two PCs. OR if you want to switch multiple printers/scanners between two PCs - connect them all to a USB3 hub first and then switch this hub between computer 1 and computer 2. I have attached a diagram I made to demonstrate this.In summary a decent bidirectional USB3 switch for the price.

This is a simple product that does the job well. Its the product you need when you just want to split a USB connection into two other connections, and then press a switch to choose between the two options. This is better than a hub that may have a switch on it, which can split a usb connection into multiple ones, because you may not need to split more than twice. But if you don’t need that ability then you can have this one, which can let you split the connection by two, with a handy switch for the least amount of confusion, that you may experience with a hub. This way you keep things simple. Avoid at all costs. My USB switch was dead on arrival. I plugged everything in and nothing worked and the LEDs did not light up as they should. I took a closer look and the unit was scratched all over the place. The packaging was brand new though, which strongly suggests that the manufacturer just put a broken, returned, or defective unit in a new box and shipped it out.I'm returning this immediately and buying from a more reputable brand.
