I bought this for my mother on the recommendation of an audiologist. The first one we got only worked in one ear when you plugged the headphones all the way in, if you pulled back some both would work. I sent it back and the company quickly sent out a new one. The new one does the same thing. I tried four different sets of headphones and same thing happened with each pair. Didn’t bother to send the second one back. Disappointed, especially with how much it cost.

I'd have to be a wrestler to open the box and get the appliance out of the plastic casing.I cannot open the battery compartment!!!!!Is this another one of those US products made in China? That would explain it.That's the problem with online ordering, we don't really know what we are going to getWhat a disappointment

This was a great purchase 4 my hubby who has hearing damage from oil and water well noise over the years. He was turning up the tv soooo loud; that it was excruciating 2 my ears! Now, he can hear me--even when I whisper, or speak softly. Also, he places the microphone close 2 the tv; so, he can hear the tv at the low level that I like.I suggested that he let his dad try it & his dad loves it; so, we'll be buying another one 4 him.I did follow the suggestion of the other reviewer who suggested the Panasonic headphones. They work together well. ;)

Our 96 year old mother uses it, and we find it fits our use very well. She uses it to watch TV and general conversation. We do not have to have the volume on the pocket talker turned way up. So far no static in the background. We alternate between ear buds & a very lightweight headphone set we have had for a few years. We have found some "head sets" are too large for ladies size heads even when adjusted to the smallest that can be adjusted. We have used other listening device to use with the TV and have found that system to be okay, but we have had difficulty with static and that. Hopefully when we go for short term care this pocket talker can be used? The other product we have had difficulty "synching" it with a TV, making unacceptable to be used when she is in short term care. The pocket clip is a little difficult for me to use due to arthritis in my hands & fingers. Seems a bit stiff to work the clip. We did purchase the adapter for the stereo sound. We have had this product for about a month now and so far are well pleased with it. Reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, we wished it could be wireless. Instead of battery, set it on a charger like a phone. It is what it is.

Although sound quality is not perfect, this "talker" amplifies sound very well. There is some static but it is wonderful that I don't have to shout so that my mother can hear me. Her hearing aids are no longer doing the job because of increased hearing loss. As long as she is conversing one on one, this talker does really well. If there is a great deal of noise, she finds it a little difficult to tolerate. This is a great buy for someone who can't hear and can't afford $6000 hearing aids.
