The paper is pretty good! The bleed throughs only really happen with markers or others wet mediums, and the paper thickness is pretty thin (because its a sketch book) i feel the colors do get a bit dull on the paper but thats okay :3

For its price, this sketchbook is pretty darn perfect. The paper has some tooth, and it responds great to graphite and colored pencils. It CAN handle wet media including some watercolor, but the paper will probably deform a little, and you need to really wait for it to dry before trying to add more layers. YMMV, but that wasn't a big deal in my case. One star deducted because the binding did start to come apart. I sewed the loose section of paper back in by hand. Gave it a little extra character and is fine for my purposes, but just something to keep in mind. Anyway, I think it's just about the best value for its price. It's affordable enough to feel freeing to make ugly or imperfect art, but also of a good enough quality that it's truly enjoyable to make art in.

Lays flat, good quality pages, cheap price per sketchbook. Almost all sketchbooks on Amazon don't lay flat but this binding is perfect.

The paper is not cut cleanly on the corners of the text block, and the paper is pretty thin. It's ok, but not great. Would maybe be worth it if it was under $10. I'll still use it, though

Un cahier sympa, les feuilles sont bien rigides et autant agréable pour le crayon et l'encre (que j'utilise beaucoup).Par contre la couverture est un peu ristuque, la finition aurait pu être plus raffinée ;)

This great little sketchbook has handled everything I have thrown at it with aplomb: oil pastel, ink, colored pencil, watercolor pencil, water soluble crayons, and even light washes of watercolor. It has a lovely tooth that oil pastels, watercolor and graphite or colored pencils respond well to, yet it doesn't have an exaggerated texture either (the way some cheaper wood pulp watercolor paper has). It will lie perfectly flat which is critical for most of my use cases. The binding is quite sturdy and has not cracked despite my being 3/4 of the way through with this book. I have used gouache in this book quite extensively, as well as many multi layer projects involving watercolor crayons in one layer covered over with oil pastel. I even have a couple of pages with acrylic paint forming the first layer with nary a complaint from this sturdy little companion sketchbook.Furthermore as you can see from the last incredibly messy photo, I have sheets of paper stuck between my oil pastel drawings. This has considerably thickened the size the spine must cover yet it hasn't cracked or ripped. When wet, the paper will warp and buckle, but after the painting dries, all you need to do is shut the book and put another book on top of it: hey presto the wrinkles are ironed out like it never even happened! It will withstand the heavy tugging that oil pastel blending sometimes entails, although I always make sure to take down the paper before doing so lest an errant sheet rip on its own.In sum, while I wouldn't suggest using this book for a heavy wash style of watercolor, short of that, I can't imagine anything this book can't take. There are a lot of similar looking books out there but don't be fooled the way I was. There's a very similar looking book comprising set of four for little less than twice the price of this little gem. Don't fall for it! That paper is smooth almost like computer printer paper. Get this one. You'll be glad you did.

If you can tolerate the potential for this book to peel away from the binding, then you will get a decent artist, mixed media junk journal notebook. I am a real fan of the slightly larger than a travel journal size yet smaller that a large US size ages that have a nice vintage cream color to them. Surprisingly the paper holds watercolor paints (Kuretake, walnut ink, fountain pen ink, glitter watercolors) well, although perhaps not for detail painting but for background washes, watercolors work well., do not ruin the paper and dries easily. I've also used glitter pens, gel pens, fountain pens in archival and non with no bleed issues. I often will ink the edges using stamppad ink to make the pages look aged and glue 28 lb printed images into the pages with no issues. I even have a rubber sticker on one page which has yet to fall off. Make no mistake, I have been beating this book up, overburdening it with bulky pages so in its defense, it was only a matter of time before it pulled away from the heavy kraft cover. That being said, I do recommend a journal cover to hold it all in and use a large hair band to hold the book in the cover.

I’m impressed with the quality of the pages. Depending on the pen, some ink can be seen, faintly, through the other side, but it’s nothing too concerning. The pages are a good thickness. I’m using this as a bullet journal and there’s lots of drawing and colouring going on. I was concerned buying online and not being able to feel the paper before buying, but I very happy with this sketchbook.
