I have been a Hi Res Player owner for 10 years now and when I saw this on sale I thought I would try it with all the accolades and features ...But I had to return it as it was no comparison to my old Sony NWZ A17 with 64+256GB memoryThis thing first fails with NO Internal memory ...I installed a loaded 256 card ... It worked but could not remove or change it ....The unit froze ... Nice try but the Sony still works and sounds flawless !

In the overall, I really like this little DAP. It has almost all of the features I was looking for, and the audio quality is incredibly good for such a small, reasonably priced player. Here are some of the highlights:- Solid build quality. The Hidizs Ap80 Pro-X features glass front and back with a machined aluminum outer frame. The three tiny buttons and the volume wheel are also solid aluminum. This unit is surprisingly hefty for such a small device, and the physical controls react crisply.- The Ap80 Pro-X plays WMA-Lossless files. This feature is very important to me since all my music is stored on my computer in this format. Some other players will decode lossy WMA files, but will NOT recognize WMA-Lossless files.- I am an album-oriented listener. All my music is stored in folders by artist, then by albums. The Ap80 Pro-X can search by folders and will play an entire album from beginning to end. When it reaches the end of the selected album, it will play the next album in my folder. When it has played all albums by one artist, it automatically moves on to the next artist folder and plays thru all albums by that artist, etc. I can listen while working for hours on end without the need to select each album individually.- For those who want to fine-tune the sound of this little player, it has a traditional 10-band EQ, plus an audiophile-level MSEB EQ which allows adjustment of 10 different audio parameters. With time and patience, this advanced EQ can result in a richly satisfying listening experience!- Play Settings includes several additional options. Some are fairly straightforward, others are more technical (suitable for advanced users). I particularly appreciate the Play Through List, Resume Play From Last Track, Play Through Folders, and Play Through Albums options. In addition, Gapless Playback results in smoother transitions from track to track, and the Soundfield option is by far the best DSP I have ever heard on a small music player! To my ears, a setting of +1.20 widens the sound stage beautifully without adding any harshness so typical of most DSP apps. I continue to marvel at the stellar audio quality the Ap80 Pro-X is capable of, once the wide range of adjustment options are carefully dialed in.The drawbacks for me:- The tiny touch screen can be a bit frustrating, especially when swiping. I find the left-to-right swipe sensitivity to be inconsistent; I often need to swipe more than once before the player reacts. It seems a slow, deliberate swipe works best. Touch gestures, on the other hand, are consistently responsive.- Bluetooth functionality is quite poor when connected to wireless earbuds. If the player is close to the earbuds, and I am sitting still, it works quite well, but if the player is in my pocket and I am physically active, playback is frequently interrupted. In this case, wired earbuds are the only solution. To conclude, the Hidizs Ap80 Pro-X is a remarkably sophisticated little DAP, with an extensive list of adjustment options, allowing the advanced user to really fine-tune the sound according to personal preference. Bluetooth performance is substandard, but paired with a good set of wired earphones, the audio quality is truly impressive. DAPs costing several times the price may sound marginally better, but for the audiophile on a budget, this player provides outstanding value.

I am SUPER impressed with the sound, I used with bluetooth hi-res earbuds and WOW, better than other audiophile headphones I have, which shocked me. Very nice unit, I wish it were a bit bigger for readability in the car, but otherwise, it's definitely excellent and great value for money.

So I lived with this device for a month, and here is my verdict:Pluses:- It sounds great.- It is solidly built.- I was actually able to get some support after accidentally setting the language to Chinese. These days, that's a plus.Minuses:- The screen interface is clunky at best. Swiping is often either undetected or too sensitive. "How did I get here and how do I get out?" is a common thing.- Having a full set of front facing controls would make it much more usable. Yes, it would need to be larger, but honestly, does it need to be so small?- As others have noted, the software really leaves a lot to be desired. In detail:- Very little configurability, and the default navigation alphabetical track listing is maddening.- The playlist database tops out at 20,000 tracks, which is far too low. One reason I chose this was that it supports a 512 GB SD card, but unless you are using Hi-Res audio, the player won't actually handle that much music (512GB/20,000 tracks means an average track size is around 25 MB).I bought this to replace a 16 year old iPod classic that died. Considering I paid the same price for this as I did for that iPod, it is depressing that the design/usability is so bad in comparison. I'd probably have returned it if not for the fact that I looked into all of the options available and nothing seemed any better, at least not without spending 2x-4x as much. I'll give it 3 stars, but that is generous. If they put some serious work into the software, they could improve it immensely, but I won't hold my breath.

A brilliant music player that covers all formats.I use for my wav, flac, and DSD rips. Its easy to use and set up.I set the soundscape up to my liking via the function (I didn't have to use the EQ function). The software is by Hiby and it's easy to go through the menu.I paired is with some decent headphones and it has a lovely sound. One thing you may be surprised of is the size,it's Tiny.

At first I had a bit of trouble figuring everything out. Once I had, it worked great. Superior sound then my surfans player. I would recommend this to anyone needing a music player with a better sound quality then the cheaper ones.

Hält was er verspricht. Klare Kaufempfehlung! Super Player fürs kleine Geld!

Paired with Sony 1000 XM4 and Status In between ear buds. Great sound. Size is very small and can be difficult to hit the right soft button when using the menu is you have sausage fingers like I do! Love how fast it responds and I recommend getting the case. Came with screen protectors on front and back already applied and 2 extra ones. Excellent build quality. Love this player. Battery life is less compared to others but most likely due to size of battery in such a small player
