Cigocivi (Moioc) Yoga Backless Auxiliary ChairI have been practicing yoga for over 20 years; and teaching yoga since 2019. In all that time; I’ve never seen an Iyengar yoga chair (which this is) that was specifically manufactured for yoga anyplace other than at online sales pages. Of the studios in our area; there is only one in that has Iyengar chairs; and that is where I got the basic introduction to chair yoga as part of my Yoga Teacher Training in 2018.The studio owner’s spouse used a sledge hammer to modify inexpensive chairs from a chain store to make them backless. (Note: Do not use a sledge hammer to modify the chairs; there are many YouTube videos to show you better ways to get the back off of a chair. I found them after I did use the sledge hammer method.)When I began teaching Chair yoga classes in 2019; I had to seek out sources for my classes. And, three books available from Amazon were among those.Chair Yoga for You: A Practical Guide, by Adkins, Clarissa C., Robinson, Olivette Baugh, Stewart, Barbara LeafChair Vinyasa: Yoga Flow for Every Body - The Instructor's Manual, by Delia Quigley; which changed my view that Chair yoga is exclusive to the elderly, or disabled yogi. Chairs are just one more prop that any yogi can use to find deeper, or different expressions of postures than they would with out a prop. And, most recently; A Chair for Yoga: A complete guide to Iyengar Yoga practice with a chair, by Dr. Eyal Shifroni (The author states this book is for advanced practioners, and not for beginners, and not for people with specific health issues)Plus, a couple of quick graphics for modified Sun Salutations done with a Chair by Peggy Cappy. It was from Chair Vinyasa: Yoga Flow for Every Body - The Instructor's Manual, by Delia Quigley; that I discovered the different types of chairs, including taller, and shorter chairs. From that I realized I needed a tall chair (I’m over 6 foot) to teach my classes. So, I did some research and made my own from thrift store clearance chairs. So, when this Cigocivi (Moioc) chair arrived; I was surprised, and impressed at the difference in quality of it compared to the standard, and modified DIY chairs I’ve been using all these years. All of the metal is thick, and substantial; it weighs 13 pounds, 9 ounces. All of the joints have strong welding beads. There is an additional lower support bar under the seat. The finish is powder coat; and not likely to scratch off easily. There is just enough padding on the seat to add comfort without compromising support, and stability. As mentioned in an other review; there are holes to connect an attachment to the front; but as of yet, I haven’t seen those available separately from any sellers. You may have to make your own if you don’t want to buy the set.In “Chair Vinyasa,” there are recommendations for using both padded, and unpadded seats depending on the poses. The pad can be removed from this one if it makes more sense for how it will be used. But you can’t add a comparable pad to the older style chairs and get the same qualities that come with this chair. Now I understand why these chairs are in the $70 and up price range; and I think it’s worth it to know you have a good foundation for a wide range of bodies that you may have as students. Or for a heavier individual who wants to be safe while trying more challenging yoga. This is a high-quality yoga prop for any yogi, or studio to have available.

Makes it much easier for those with disabilities or mobility issues to still be able to do yoga! The chair is sturdy and the backless design is perfect for many poses. Comfortable to use.

This is a great chair for my yoga practice. It is wonderfully sturdy - you just feel it when V you pick it up in your hand. I feel very secure in my viparita dandasana and sarvangasana and all other chair variations I have tried. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the cushioned seat - but now that I used it, I really like it because it obviates the need to put a sticky mat on the seat! Outstanding find - buy it with confidence for your yoga practice. I’m a 180 lb 5’8” male
