Great little everyday sketchbook. Elastic band keeps sketches from smudging too badly, little pocket at the end is handy for stickers and scraps. I take this one everywhere with me.

I am a repeat customer for these sketchbooks. I have bought all the sizes probably, and the pocket portrait is one of my favorite. It has a slightly off-white color paper, which I LOVE I think it makes it easier to start a drawing or painting and it also looks better as a finished product. The paper is thick, but I do put a lot on it sometimes so use gesso unless I am writing or using watercolors. The blue is stunning by the way.Great value for the money as this holds up to being toted around in bags and handled all the time, cover wise and how well it is bound.

Great little art journal. I wish it could work for mixed media better, but this is great for pocket sketching!

J’aime beaucoup le petit format de ce cahier qui se glisse partout! Je l’utilise pour l’aquarelle mais je dois avouer que ce n’est pas l’idéal, car le papier n’est pas si épais, et que ça gondole un peu! Mais personnellement, je m’y adapte bien! Pour le croquis ou les crayons couleurs, ce serait plus adéquat!

This book fits well into pocket… also I have been using watercolour pencils, paint and fine liner pens on paper with out bleeding through… because it’s such a small area I don’t use very much water on paper, get a little bit of paper wrinkling but that goes when kept closed with strong elastic band attached to book. Good product.

Enjoyed using this sketchbook because it's relatively affordable and I don't feel the need to make everything perfect so I can test and experiment. However the paper is good enough to take up to 2 - 3 layers of watercolours.

I got this sketchbook after trying out several other kinds over the years and ended up keeping each one for a specific kind of drawing or painting, which meant that if I wanted to do a quick watercolour, or ink drawing, and didn't have the right sketchbook with me, that drawing/painting was over before it began. Moleskine sketchbooks were ok for ink, but flopped under light washes and more, etc.This book can take a pretty heavy approach to watercolour without buckling, is smooth enough for pens and ink brushes, and textured enough for some nice pencil drawing. The paper is thick enough so that ink won't bleed through, and won't "drink" ink like its past closing time.My only complaint with the book, and it might just be my copy, is that the plastic envelope at the back has caused an impression on the last 10 pages or so, where the book has been pressed flat - perhaps during storage or shipping, or maybe as part of manufacture. Also, the imprint of another book's elastic closure band can be seen in the front cover. However, its easy to overlook this; ironing might help.

Das Papier ist ok für den Preis.Angenehme Körnung für Bleistift, verträgt Wasserfarbe wenn man nicht grade einen halben Liter Waser auf einmal auf die Seite kippt.Was aber gar nicht geht, ist dass ca. 15 Seiten im Buch (von 64!) deutliche Druckspuren und Dellen haben. Irgendwas war so fest zwischen die Seiten gepresst, dass es Spuren im Papier hinterlassen hat. Diese Seiten sind damit bestenfalls noch für sehr grobe Vorskizzen benutzbar, aber nicht für fertigere Bilder, vor allem nicht Bleistiftskizzen, bei denen diese Druckspuren deutlich sichtbar sind.Ich würde es nicht empfehlen. Mit dem Canson ArtBook Universal war ich deutlich glücklicher, und kriege doppelt so viel Papier für weniger Geld.

I've been looking for a good sketchbook for ages. I think that every artist has a likes and dislikes to different materials and for me, I am really picky about types of paper. I tried out moleskine sketchbooks sometime last year and I loved the style and binding but the paper was way too smooth for me. This sketchbook has the perfect tooth, not too smooth, not too rough. I had seen some fellow artists use Journal Co. sketchbooks and I searched everywhere for it!The 5.5x5.5 inch square is perfect for me and is a unique shape, perfect for carrying around. There's a pocket at the back of the book which is actually plastic, so it is a lot more durable than paper ones. The orange ribbon used for a page marker is really nice (orange being my favorite colour) and goes really well with the blue cover. The elastic the keeps the book shut is very strong, like really strong - I had so much in the plastic pocket that the book was bulging open but the strap kept it together perfect and didn't even stretch! The material on the cover is really nice and gives a perfect finishing touch.When I was searching for my 'perfect' sketchbook, I really wanted one that had a lot of pages, so that I could fill it up and so that the sketchbook was more bulky and not flat. I love the thickness of the paper, it isn't too thick and it isn't too thin - just right. It feels so easy to draw in, I think I've had it for a few weeks and I think I've used half of it so far, thinking of all those pages!Over all, this is the best sketchbook I've used yet! Definitely going to buy another!
