Is as described. The ratcheting mechanism IS the way to go when pruning. It would be awesome if the manufacturer would make these with greater capability for bigger branches. Love these and would NEVER go back to regular pruners. Thanks for making my gardening work easier!

I ordered the product specific for my hands that ache when pruning.Saturday the weather allowed me to begin pruning to spring shoots popping up. After several hours of pruning the pin that attached to open and close and gear change fell off and I could not find it. It was then that I noticed the thinner blade was missing a chunk of metal.These pruners fell very short of my expectations. Buyer Beware

I have had a similar item in the past, though I don't know what brand it was, and I loved it. This one looked almost exactly the dame, excepting only the locking mechanism. However on this item, the pin holding the ratcheting assembly together broke in the first hour of use, leaving the cutting jaws un-openable. I put a tiny screw thru the holes, allowing me to continue cutting with it, but it no longer ratcheted, which was the entire reason I bought it. Either I got a dud, or the quality in general is pretty poor. I gave three stars for ease of use, because it did work great for that first hour

I recently bought 3 garden shears, these are easily the best. They make a marvelous sound when cutting through my blackberry bush, so satisfying.
