I put these terracotta watering spikes to work in my flower beds, and they’ve been keeping my plants hydrated without me constantly checking the soil. The slow release of water keeps roots happy, preventing them from drying out or getting waterlogged. I like that I can either fill them up directly or attach a bottle for extra-long watering—perfect for when I’m away for a few days. Plus, the different colors add a little charm to my garden. The only drawback? They’re a bit fragile, so you have to be careful when pushing them into the soil. These self-watering stakes do not work well. The water does not seep out at a good rate. It is not consistent.

I didn't think I was going to really like these at first, but the bulbar end of the flower shape of the spike actually acts as an extra reservoir, paired with a bottle fitted into the spike.They are currently in my house plants and work a treat. They use the capillary action of soil and water to distribute water as the plant needs, and in the dry, heater-fied air of the house right now, they always need it.Actually quite sturdy for terra cotta spikes. And the little flowers are actually kind of nice, makes the spike easier to see under masses of growth.

I just go a potted plant for the front of my house and was afraid it would die since I was leaving for a trip for a week. To my surprise, these worked extremely well. My plant is still alive. I love the muted tone of these terracotta stakes. The fact you could refill from the top without removing them is convenient. I have three of these in my planter since it is larger in size. It gives me peace of mind in between watering days or in case I forget to do so.

This set of four plant inserts is so helpful for watering. I use them when traveling, but also for some of my more finicky plants that hate getting dry. These are small enough for the littler pots, and they do a lovely job with the terra cotta bottoms.
