So happy to have a reliable inexpensive alternative to hang the radio

Great for holding my portable radio and hand mic. I was concerned for a second when clipping them in, but it just took the right angle to get them both seated. Once in they were perfectly secured.

It requires assembly. The included instructions were easy to follow. Assembly only took me a few minutes.I was really looking forward to using this mount. I believed that it would be a great solution for mounting my Ham Radio Handy Talkies (HT's) either on my flat surfaced desk in my radio room (shack) or in my car. I was able to mount my TYD MD-2017 or my Motorola XPR7550 using their belt clips onto this mount very nicely. Both radio's external microphones were able to clip onto the other clip. The radios easily stayed vertical and did not pull over when I slightly tugged at them by stretching the microphone coiled cable away from my radios. *+* BUT *+* read on...Below are the two ways I tried using this mount with my radios (both failed):(.1.) I mounted the suction cup on my very flat (non porous) desk surface. I was initially very encouraged that the suction cup held on very tightly. I was able to use either radio with their attached microphones very easily. Likewise I was very encouraged initially by the mounts functioning. Sadly about an hour or so later... without having touched the radio or mount for quite some time, the suction cup let go and the mount with my radio on it fell over on my desk. Being optimistic, I re-attached the suction cup carefully again believing perhaps I hadn't mounted it correctly the first time. About 30 to 60 minutes later it spontaneously fell over again - the suction cup had let go once more. This happened again a third time...(.2.) Well I thought I'd still be able to use it nicely in my car mounted onto the windshield (thinking correctly that my dashboard wasn't smooth enough for the suction cup to hold onto). I thought the suction cup would hold onto the super smooth glass windshield better than my smooth desktop did. Regrettably the mount fell off on it's own about an hour or so later... from its own weight.... I didn't have a radio clipped to it at the time. The suction cup had simply let go.I was also disappointed that the suction cup was "just" rubber, and not "with Sticky Gel Pad" as the description title states. The suction cup's performance might have perhaps been better if this had been the case. I don't know if that's the problem, or if the suction cup rubber has just gotten old waiting to be purchased, or worse just was designed that way...(?) I really wanted to like this. The mount has a place for a handheld and wired mic. From that perspective it works. I put it on the side window of my motorhome and went on a 2000 trip. Ran into 2 issues,First, weight of the HT would cause the mount to unscrew. I was periodically having the screw the ball mount in the back of the radio back in. I think I need to put some lock tight on it.Second, it would occasionally fall off the window. That is a harder issue to fix. If I had a spot I could put it so the suction on a flat surface, it might be fine. Stuck on a side window, it didn't really work. I will have to give it some thought.I don't think I would buy it again.
