This house is very pretty, but I was very disappointed. It needed a lot of modifications and painting to make it suitable for Purple Martins, for the price. The compartments are way too small to house two adult birds and their young properly. We closed off 6 holes on one side, took out the insertable dividers and customized new ones to make the remaining 6 compartments more spacious. Also had to modify the entrance holes as they were too narrow. Builders please take note…if you are going to advertise a product built for housing Purple Martins, please make sure you research and are building to the needs of these birds as they require more space 4x4 or 6x6 is not big enough! Needs to be at least 6x12. Either make the houses bigger to properly accommodate 12 Purple Martins and their babies, or offer the same sized house with 6 spacious compartments. I would have gladly paid more money for proper housing.

This house is perfect if you want a expensive ornament in your yard. THEY SIMPILY DO NOT WORK. Entry holes are too small as well as interior rooms are to small not enough room inside . The rooms should be at least 6" x 6 " inside and these rooms are smaller than that . The Martins come land on it and stare and poke there heads in but can not enter . Very dissapointerd in these houses they must be made in a country where they have no idea what a purple martin is or it's size .

This house is very well built and beautiful. Was packaged well and came in perfect condition. My only concern is that the rooms are to small for the Martins. They are suppose to be no smaller them 6"X6" and these rooms are not quite 5"X5". I am going to install the house in the yard and will write a new review if we succeed in attracting Martins. Also in reading up on being a landlord to them it says they are attracted to white houses with any color trim you please and not to leave them out over the winter so other birds can occupy the house before the Martins have a chance. Once Martins occupy the house they will fight to keep it year after year. I will paint the house white and may move the inside dividers so there is more room and will write another review either then end of the season or next year. But, like I said this is very made made and is beautiful to look at. I gave it 4 stars because of the room size but may change to 5 at my next review.
