Your cart is empty.IOGear’s GCS1716KITU KVM is a combo switch allowing access and control of up to 256 computers from a single console (keyboard, mouse, and monitor). As many as 16 additional switches can be cascaded bringing the total number of connected computers to 256 computers that can be controlled from a single keyboard-monitor-mouse console. A custom ASIC (patent pending) provides an auto-sensing function that recognizes the position of each station on the installation, eliminating the need to manually set the position with DIP switches. Additionally, the GCS1716 features high density SPHD 15-pin instead of the usual 25-pin connectors thus allowing for a compact design and installation in a 1U system rack. ,The GCS1716 includes one USB port located on the front panel for easy access and sharing of any USB peripherals. Setup is fast and easy, plugging cables into their appropriate ports is all that is needed. The switch supports both USB and PS/2 connections for the console and computers. The GCS1716 intercepts keyboard input directly, thus eliminating the need for any software configuration. Switching between computers can be easily accomplished either by manually pressing the front panel push button port LEDs, entering hotkey combinations from the keyboard, or via a menu driven multilingual on-screen display (OSD) system. UPDATE: Four months in, this thing has been rock-solid and a pleasure to use. So much better than the Belkin junk that it replaced.This is nice unit. The build quality is great, it's a pleasure to touch and handle. The on-screen administrative functionality is useful and nice.I got all the cables with it that I was expecting.This is the second one of these that I've worked with. My company bought another one about 3 years ago to put into a portable server rack, and that thing took a beating, getting shipped overseas, knocked around, sat in a hot humid warehouse for months, got shipped back to the USA for a tech-refresh of the server stack and then back overseas again. That one still works.Docked one star because one of the USB cables included with the unit was bad (no mouse or keyboard functionality) and I killed about 30 minutes narrowing it down to the cable.We'll see how this one holds up. I'll update the review if it goes sour sooner than it should.

Great idea! Connect both PS/2 servers and USB-ONLY Pcs on a single rack; just use different cable. My kit came with 4 PS/2 and 4 USB cables,4 x 6ft of each and 4 x 10ft of each. Great KVM with programmable on screen display of port selection and ability to setup user name and password right at the KVM console. Local users have to get past this security before they can even touch the servers. Highly recommended. Solid construction, easy setup.

Half 10' and half 6'. All are USB.Also inside this box is another box that has: 1 usb cable set, 1 ps/2 cable set, KVM switch, and other various KVM cables. So, I got all 8 cables, but 1 was ps/2. All were supposed to be usb.The cable for the key/mse/vga had both usb plugs and 2 ps/2 plugs on it as well. It's about 6 inches long.There's a cable with an rj11 plug on it for upgrading firmware.There's a mystery cable, 6' long, that I finally figured out is for cascading to another kvm. It's got vga on one end, and their proprietary plug on the other, but no usb. I thought it was an extension for the console cabling, but that does not work (vga passes through, but key.mse does not).Once setup, the unit's great. It is working perfectly with anything from 1024x768 to 1920x(whatever). There's no flicker, hesitation, or other problems. I cannot even tell the signal is going through a KVM.We saved more than the cost of the device by reclaiming rack space, 5 usable monitors, 10 keyboards and mice, HVAC costs for all those monitors, and time spent checking servers from a central desk.

I have been using quite a lot of different brand of KVM switches with various ports from 2 to 24 Ports. I like to use ATEN product, but it is quite expensive to use, so I had to look for different manufacture such as Belkin or IOGEAR. Since no problem to use both of them, so I gave a shot to use IOGEAR which seemed a pretty good deal. It works great without any issue. Being able to use either PS2 cable or USB cable on the same KVM switch is another reason why I chose.
