I've been a radio-amateur for over a year now and am slowly building up my shack with various tools and test equipment. I have a more basic analog power/SWR meter but this one - while not being much larger - adds dual-range, calibration, and dial-lock so it's (theoretically) a nice upgrade.In use: it reads fairly accurately compared to other meters being tested. I've tested my antennas with a RigExpert antenna analyzer and this meter seems to produce very similar SWR results across a range of frequencies.I'm a bit unsure about the meter lock-out switch (M LOCK) as the needle still appears to bounce a bit when that's in the "LOCK" position. One other point: there are other meters (some by Surecom) that use a digital readout instead of analog needle and those are comparable in price to this one. As such, I'm docking half a star rounded down. However, this still gets a recommend - particularly since it will work without battery power, simply without a backlight, where a digital gauge has you at the mercy of a good set of batteries.

RF meter uses analog modulation to indicate with precision across lower 1.5 Mhz to 60 Mhz frequency bands. While it can pass through to ANT socket, DC jack only converts to standard Type A USB plug for backlight. It's definitely has retro vibe using weight based rotating dials and tactile switches. Figuring out how to calibrate and measure is a somewhat high learning curve though. Overall this RF meter feels precise as analog goes for indicating either forward or reflected wave ratios.

Now I know my antenna is not as efficient as it could be even with my radio's built in antenna tuner.

Started off as a great little meter but now only works when it wants to, which isn't that often. Bit of a let down because it seemed like it was a quality product. Don't think I'll be buying anything else with the Surecom name on it. Only had this for a few months now and it's already crapped out.
