This is the best clarinet swab I ever had, and I tried all of them. It is made with a fabric that absorbs moisture much better than silk swabs. And it has a big, unique plus: the ropes on both sides are SO long that you can just take the mouthpiece off and swab the WHOLE clarinet without disassembling it! A big advantage for me, who likes to keep the instrument assembled on a floor stand, rather than in the case. Highly recommended.

I have a Buffet Crampon E11 that I absolutely adore - my last silk swab had finally swabbed its last swab and I needed to find a replacement. I'm overall a huge fan of Protec products and they are generally my go-to brand for many instrument accessories. This swab works GREAT in the places that It can go - I agree with previous comments about making sure the string side of the swab is kept away from the bore. I feel that it is unlikely to damage the bore, but I am not taking any chances. The only issue I am running into is that I have not been able to get the swab through the upper joint because I start facing a decent bit of resistance - enough that I stop. I have just been doing "half and half" (swab the bottom as far as it will go, then flip over and do the top side) instead of one pass through the joint.

Material was different than expected, but that's my fault by not looking more closely at pictures. Works good, only concern is the logo on the swab itself - I'm a bit worried that it might scratch up the bore of the clarinet as I have a wooden one. I think someone else has written about this but aslong as you use the side without the logo it should be fine..? Another thing I find not very convienient is the double sided strings. Overall works for its purpose

I use this swab for my Bb clarinet, and it works really well. I remove the mouthpiece and swab it, then drop the weighted end of the swab into the bell and through the rest of the clarinet. It absorbs all the moisture in one pass, and I like that the string is long enough that both ends of the swab are always in reach.

Love this swab, I am buying another one for my oboe! My wood clarinet loves it and gets rid of all the moisture in my clarinet, it’s easy to wash, easy to use, and it WORKS!! Definitely recommended to my colleagues! Any other swab on the market isn’t good as quality as this swab, buy it and you won’t regret it!

Miles better than the flimsy "pocket square" swab my clarinet came with. Actually gets in there and absorbs all the moisture (as far as I can tell).

A few weeks ago I purchased a second Buffet clarinet. I needed to get a new swab for the new instrument but instead opted to make a "temporary" swab out of a hoodie string and a pair of (clean!!!) white cotton underwear. This worked out just fine until I went to concert band rehearsal and then, to my horror, realized I had not swapped out my makeshift swab with my usual swab. I came home that night, threw away the DIY swab so as to not put myself in that situation again, and immediately purchased this swab.The Protec swab is bulkier and fits more snugly in my horn than my silk swab. With cords on both ends, I'm able to pull it back and forth in the instrument and get all the moisture in one pass, vs. having to pull my silk swab through a couple of times to achieve the same results. The swab appears to be well constructed and I absolutely prefer it to my silk swab. The mesh case is pretty pointless, though. I'm using it to keep odds and ends together rather than using it for the swab.Good product. Five stars given on 10/3/19, will update if there any developments.
