Allows you to use solar and alternator with one product rather than several to accomplish the same task. Have yet to see the long term performance as well as road trip performance but so far happy with the purchase.

Relatively easy to install if you have any electrical skills. I installed inside RV and used 20 foot 4 gauge jumper cable wire and wired to a 12v cutoff switch just before charger. So far I quite like it's function but have not used extensively yet.

I had no experience camperizing or hooking up 12 V electrical. This product was easy to install and works great. I did watch a lot of youtube to make sure I did it right.

This thing pretty much just works, but it doesn't really operate as I expected. It very strongly seems to favor solar power over alternator power. The instructions do indicate it will always try to use solar power before alternator, which makes sense. But I thought it would take as much solar as available, and then "top up" to 30A by drawing from the Alternator. But not so. Pretty much, if there is any solar at all, it will take nothing from the alternator. If I wanted to make sure to get alternator power to charge the battery, I had to unplug the solar panels.

This charger fills a real niche having both dc-dc and solar capability in one package. Beautifully built, relatively compact and from a respected manufacturer. Eliminates a box and several runs of wiring. Really perfect for smaller campers.
