I like the keyboard and do like typing on it, even though it's a little louder than I'd like at times. Nothing crazy for a mechanical keyboard - red switches, not clackity blue. The games I've been playing aren't the type where you need super fast reaction speeds, so no comments for that. I thought I'd like the customizable lighting to light up only the keys I would be using for a game, but I think that would be better to do with a fully RGB keyboard. Realistically, I want to light up a lot of the keys, which definitely makes them easier to see and find in a mid- to low-level light setting. With RGB I would be able to keep the lighting of all/most keys, but use accent colouring for more common functionality, or functionality you don't use a lot, but you need to find quickly in a desperate situation. The software is just ok. While it does let you customize the lighting and even some custom key functionality, there's an issue with it remembering your lighting settings. You can have 3 custom-defined light setups that you can toggle through from the keyboard itself. Although, when I've set these up via the software, it sometimes seems to forget them, reverting to the default on/wasd/off values.Pros and cons, imho, of course:Pros- Good feel.- Corded and cordless options, with both Bluetooth and wireless USB transceiver.- Comfortable typing position - comes with wrist rest, which, although not padded, is comfortable.- Lighting level is good - I can see the keys without any "spotlight" effect areas.- Quick typing is relatively easy (see cons).Cons- Capslock, Numlock, Scrollock indicators are hidden from normal typing position. Your head needs to be almost directly over the keyboard to see them.- Top row is too close to the 2nd row of keys and at the same level (almost feels lower). I wish the top row was just a little further and higher. I actually use F-keys in-game and it's difficult to differentiate them without looking or taking time to feel for them.- red switches are not for me, at least not for a all-in-one keyboard. I often rest my hands on the keys and am too heavy-handed, as I'm often undoing or deleting a large number of l's or k's. I'll have to try other types of switches at some point.- I don't like the arrow keys placement. I thought I would, but I really don't. When I'm typing I want to be able to move my right hand to those keys without looking for them, and am constantly pressing Ctrl, Shift, or 0. I much prefer my Macbook Pro keyboard in this respect, because those keys are at the end, are a different size. I'll have to try a keyboard without the numpad next time.- Missing Home/End keys. I knew this was the case when buying, but I use Home/End to move around a lot when typing/coding. This keyboard has a Fn key, which lets you select other functionality like this, but there are 2 major issues with how it's been done.1. The Fn key is on the right-hand side, close to where the keys are that have this secondary functionality. This makes it very likely you will need to look at the keyboard to find the Fn key, then find the key you want. This is made even harder by #2.2. None of the functionality that is accessible via the Fn button shows up through the keys. All secondary text is a medium grey on black keys (in my case). Making this even harder is the fact that the letter lights up, as does the area surrounding the keys. I assume this is less of an issue with the white keyboard. With the lack of Home/End keys, I tried using the software to compensate, but ended up using a 3rd party keyboard tool to bind Windows+Left Arrow to Home and Windows+Right Arrow to End. Much more intuitive for me (think Macbook Pro).Overall I do like the keyboard, and can live with it, but certain issues and/or design choices means I will definitely go with a different style next time.

I had a mac for the longest time and have recently built a PC so I decided to buy a new mechanical keyboard and LOVE this choice. I needed a numpad for compsci/math work and looked for a long time to find a good option and decided on this. This keyboard feels so smooth to type on, and the magnetic hand rest makes it so comfortable to use. The only issue I had was that the space bar was sounding really hollow, so I just layered some tape in and it sounds much nicer now. I also think that more RGB colour options would be good and maybe a nicer looking volume scroll (such as a white knob) would look better; but these are just my personal preferences. this is a great buy and I highly recommend. :)

TL:DR: i love the feel and functionality despite some minor issues. Customer service is top notch. Baseline 4.5 stars. I'd buy again.I love the look, feel, and sound of this keyboard with 0.7mm o-rings.The switches have just a tad bit of play, but not wobbly. Minus a half star. The switches are nicely responsive. Overall i prefer them to my last set of cherry reds. Hot swap is a bonus in case there's an issue, and it even comes with extras! The battery life isn't amazing, but it holds up for an extended couch gaming or writing session. Minus a quarter star. The software is a bit janky, but it works fine. Minus a quarter star.Bluetooth connectivity is great at 10 or so feet. I haven't tested farther, or the 2.5ghz band at all.Be careful when updating the firmware. A mistake could brick it. It happened to me when i accidentally closed the update window. Minus one star for that...... but plus two for the timely and thorough help with the issue. RK has a lifetime customer if their quality and customer service remain this excellent!

The RK96 is my first mechanical keyboard. I was looking for a nice (starter) keyboard with red (linear) switches since I intended to use it for gaming as well as productivity. This form factor seemed to be my best choice, as I wanted a keyboard a little smaller than a full-size, but did not want to omit the numpad. When I got it a couple of weeks ago it worked fine (no issues in all the three modes), but upon hooking it up to my laptop, it burnt out on the USB port. I quickly got in contact with RK support (via the intermediary). After a couple of pleasant exchanges of information (and a couple of videos stating the problem), it was quickly decided to send me a new keyboard. Delivery of the replacement was quick! It does have a slight ping on some of the keys, but I may add some mods after running it as is. So all-in-all great service, nice keyboard. Definitely getting a 5 star for the service.
