Briefly, I became aware of “HEIL” a few years ago having bought two Heil’s Air Transformer studio quality loudspeakers, whose sound is unparalleled. Therefor, as HEIL has been producing legendary loud speakers, let see if HEIL could also develop the opposite end of the audio channel, the Microphone. As a Faculty member of a 30,000+ student, State of Florida University, FAU, I rarely have time to write product reviews. My exception is for true Excellence, the valedictorian of products. Today, I produce daily, morning HDTV 90 minute pod-casts on a variety of technology topics, occasionally drifting to “Current Events.”In sum, HEIL PR-40B Microphone, is truly one of the best Cardioid Microphones available. Frequency response is pure and clean, particularly at the low-end of the audio spectrum. If you are looking for truly Deep, Clear Voiced Podcasting, with superior rejection of side & rear distractions, this may be a choice to consider. I have tested and own the best from EV, SHURE to SENNHEISER, where would you believe, HEIL clearly out-performs them all. If you deserve the Heil-PR40B (XLR fitted) microphone, you may likely be attaching it to a RODE Podcaster Pro-II or RODE’s new Podcaster-DUO, a mobile audio production sound-board, both offering phantom 48v power, coupled to SE Electronics DM1 in line 28db amplification, the subject of this review.Accordingly, SE-Electronics delivers their “in-line” DYNAMITE DM1 Class-A amplifier, for Dynamic Microphone in-line pre-amplification; the DM1 delivers truly “Lossless, Flat” preamplification of the entire 10-100,000 Hz audio spectrum, virtually eliminating line losses. Quality Dynamic microphones generally need an in-line 28db boost in signal amplitude, utilizing true Class-A amplifier technologies, this in-line signal boost, avoids over-pushing the RODE sound-board, keeping its attenuation in the mid-range of its capability, with long or short cable runs. Microphone Developers like Bob Heil, have a priority of delivering excellent sound reproduction for the entire listening range of the human Ear. Accordingly, Dynamic Microphones need a little help with signal attenuation; This is where SE-Electronics delivers their “in-line” DYNAMITE DM1 Class-A amplifier, fitting into the Audio Chain. We own four of these inline amplifiers for each of our 4 sound sources.2/25/25 JimW.

I bought this on recommendation from a friend. He did not lead me astray; it works EXACTLY as advertised. The noise floor is silent. I'm using with a SM57 & Yamaha MG10XU mixer. No more having to have everything on 10 to barely be heard during live streams. It gives the SM57 the exact bump it needs. Easy 5 stars. Get one, they are killer.

I have used the Dynamite less than 10 times over the last few months and it is already not working. I get no line signal when using it with any mics. Big waste of money.

This thing will do the trick. If you're in the market for a clean gain boost for your mic, which you probably are if you're reading this review, then you're in the right place. I coupled this with a Rode Podmic. This thing is perfect for it.I use an SSL2 interfact and before using this preamp, the gain knob was turned pretty much to max. Not good. Now I can technically completely kill the interface gain and still have a decent volume out. I got my gain now hovering around 10 o'clock to 11 o'clock. I've had the preamp for a while and I'm still trying to find my preferred gain spot.Do your due diligence though and research preamps before you buy them. Perhaps you want/need some more features. This preamp is for a single mic, and I know there's others out there that can do multiple mics. If all you need is a single inline preamp though, you can't go wrong with this.

This dynamite cloud lifter has turned my Shure 57 into a perfect condenser mic. Really low noise floor and boosts the volume perfectly. It’s a remarkable invention. I am so happy i bought it. It’s great for acoustic guitars and even vocals. I highly recommend this if you have dynamic mics you could use a little boost with. Brilliantly made and looks really cool too.

This is hands down an incredible gift from the audio gear gods!So I was debating getting the Cloudlifter or the Dynamite. What sold me on the DM1 was the fact that it plugs in directly and thus eliminates the need for an extra xlr cable. Furthermore it adds slightly more clean gain than the Cloudlifter from what I researched.I did couple test recordings to showcase how vast of a difference there is with and without the Dynamite. The top of the two tracks in my screenshot is with the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen gain at 75% and my lips right up to the Shure sm7b. The bottom is the same situation except the Dynamite is plugged into the Shure...the difference is mind blowing!Furthermore, the cylindrical box the DM1 comes in is suuuuuch a nice touch. Major bonus points for the overall presentation. They really nailed this product and could not ask for a better inline mic preamp. Love how sleek and simple the design is and how much character spills through!!On top of that, it arrived 5 days early which was awesome!Thank you!!!

Very clean gain boost for your quiet mics. I use it on my RE-20 and it does exactly what you want it to. makes your mic louder, doesn't introduce a bunch of noise/gain. BUY IT!

This does amplify your dynamic very well. It is small and can be out of frame. They do suggest it is close to the mic. Although I have it on a very short xlr, I did try it on a long one and did not see a difference. But I am an amateur.

This thing is basically magic, and is a much have when using dynamic mics on weak interfaces. I no longer have to crank the gain to get the mic loud enough, so there is no more hiss.
