Don’t buy this compass unless you are specifically wanting one for military Mills measurements. It has degrees on the back of the compass that you can flip over and look at. However, the magnetic needle won won’t work with the inclinometer upside down. If you want degrees by the Ranger 2.0. If you want military use this is an excellent compass.

Love the compass for what I use it for. Can in broken on the edge and no pieces could be found inside the packaging but still used it on my last trip. Stores away nice on my chest carrier. The dials are easy to adjust but will maintain there position. Good value for the cost.

Being a veteran, I have trusted Silva compasses in the past with my life. Silva makes great reliable compasses that are very robust and most importantly, very accurate. I like this compass because it has both mils and degrees. It can be a bit tricky for someone new to compasses but like every thing, with a bit of research and training, you too will be able to trust this compass. For the experienced outdoors lover you won’t be disappointed.

A genuine Milspec 6400mil compass. Just what I needed and a great upgrade from my older model that is due for 'retirement'. Great price and quick delivery (7 days from the US to NZL).

A military style compass, metal construction, and easy to use. It is a good piece of equipment to add to your bug out bag, or hiking backpack. Do not get lost, learn to read a topographical map, it might save your life, or the lives of others. If the GPS satellites are taken out, or the GPS device does not work properly, you have no excuse for not having a backup compass. Learn to use it, and you will be able to get to your destination, or get home safely.

Yes, it's pricey. However, it's far superior to any Ranger compass I was issued in the Canadian Army. This thing is solid, slick, and polished. It has so many more features than your average animal.Cons: I had a little trouble settling the declination at first (I figured out, but you need to know your stuff). The lanyard attachment seems flimsy.Pros: I shot bearings using the compass and my GPS phone app, and all were within .25mil. That's outstanding.Solid construction. Built in magnifier is a nice touch.Scale built into the lanyard works well for measuring road (map) distance. The mirror is high quality. Etched levelling marks is just gravy. Totally improves accuracy.Romers seem accurate. Have not tried the clinometer. The included, plasticized avalanche potential card is a really nice touch. In short, this is a great piece of kit. Expensive, yes. I cannot comprehend why the first reviewer gave such a low score.Actually, yes I can. He or she usually gives one star reviews to anything. Listen to a dude who has been using compasses for 40+ years.
