Started pumping out warm water while the truck was still filling it with very cold water. Greatly improved our swimming experience. Very happy and impressed. Minor issue with a small leak on the top of the bypass valve that I'm looking into. And the mats don't want to lay completely flat.(That's me being picky and also may be the installation) I do recommend this product as it does work and is a great price.

Really just set up the "panels" the other day. I put panels in quotes as I think the term can be somewhat misleading as they are not what one would consider to be a typical solar panel. They are basically plastic mats that have water running through them. Haven't noticed a difference in our pool temp yet but that's ok as the weather hasn't been the greatest since install. Here is what they don't tell you....it has the converter kit, which is great, you can divert water if you want to either go through the plastic mats or not.....but, you need a bunch of other hose pieces and clamps, etc... In fairness I think the description may elude to such but doesn't really tell you much more that than. So, if using this kit, here is some help - you will need to have another 4 sections of pool hose to connect everything, including the hardware to do so. Lengths would vary depending on how far away you are putting the mats from your pool. I chose to put mine on the ground. If you have dogs, block off the area, lol. If you have a hose system like myself you will also know that the ones coming out of the pump and going back into the pool also have different attachments at the end to screw them into place. Those are not compatible with this system so you will also most likely have to buy those attachment pieces to connect them to the other hoses. Some of my connections did leak a little bit however nothing a better fitting and tightening of the clamps couldn't fix. I gave this a 2 star rating for two reasons; 1) not sure if it even works yet 2) lack of extra hoses and instructions on how to connect. CheersAugust update - safe yourself the time and money, just don't order this product. We have had it installed for about 4 weeks or so and it constantly leaks at the connections even though I have upgraded the pieces. I also woke up the other morning to a pool that was drained below the intake filter because the mats themselves sprung several leaks. Flooded my yard and may have messed up my pump from running dry! Seller is currently not taking any responsibility to assist and has put me onto the manufacturer to deal with. So honestly, like I said, find a different supplier and product and save yourself the headaches with this one. Regards.

Winter wind damaged 2 panels.Purchase history for same 2x2'x20' item:2012- $169.992013- $190.99 +12%2015- $190.982018- $245.31 +28% 2024- $379.71 +55% (+123% total from 2012) I expect prices to go up, but 55% in 6 years? Almost 10% a year? This is crazy.It's these or a necessary ~$400 Sta-Rite Filter, I guess I'll have a slightly cooler pool.

Note: Items described as 2' x 10' - With the end pipes the panels are 27" wide - so you need a space a bit wider than 4' for 2 panels. We bought 2 sets 2x10 panels to heat a 16' x 48" round pool. We built a raised platform beside pool for panels, water needs to pump up approx. 3' which the pump has no problem doing. Before panels: pool up mid May, not warm enough to swim in daily till end of May or early June (Warm enough for us 86F/30C. After panels: Turned on May 4, Pool reached 86F/30C by May 11 - pool has maintained that temp x early afternoon since. The weather in our area fluctuates between 23C to 30C this time of year, nights from 4C to 10C and up. Pool loses some ground when temp drops to 4C, but recovers much quicker than before.

Was early to install, the fittings were compatible with a sump pump hose system so had it up and running in no time. Keeps the pool nice and warm here in sunny Alberta

I live in NE Ohio where the weather is unpredictable every day.... It was a horrible summer so far due to the fires in Canada which brought in tons of clouds every day so sun was sparce.I have one 2/20 solar heater and a nice solar cover for the pool to keep the heat in at night.I'm excited to say that I've been able to reach 90° plus many of times with the solar panel mounted on my garage roof that is very close to my pool.Install by yourself on a roof is a bit tricky so my advise is two people are better than just yourself.I have a 12/20 4' oval pool.I'm very happy with this... Hope it works the same next year after our winter weather lays on it.

The solar panels work as expected (outlet pipe is definitely warmer than inlet). However, the provided fittings (the black one in the photo) to connect flexible 1 1/2'' tubes are terrible. They are too small and no matter how hard I tighten the steel clamps, they leak. So I purchased good quality fittings (the white one) that can be glued to my PVC piping Also the panels are a bit "wavy", it is difficult to have them 100% flat on the surface. But overall, good purchase.

Hard to rate a product but I say like 3 to 4 stars on the kit I ordered. The base kit used for an above ground pool would receive 5 stars from me. You can use all the supplied connectors and i can see nothing leaking. Just roll the mat out on a sunny day and it will flatten. connect it up to a flexible 1-1/2" flexible hose and your done. The problems start when you start mounting it more permanent like to a roof (I bought the complete kit with roof mounts/strapping). The instructions say to mount at certain measurements and that's just not correct. You must find the roof studs and lag bolt directly into them. It's almost common sense. You locate the stud, pre-drill, inject some roofing sealant into the hole and bolt it down. All your doing is just lag bolting a plastic coated metal strap on the roof. No leak proof mounts or anything like that you would see in a more expensive kit. I feel like for the cost, they should included a little plastic mount that will grab and allow sealant to be used more effectively. what can a couple dozen little plastic pieces cost? Make the kit another 50 bucks more expensive and give the customer a feel good install. This would also allow for removal in the winter. The way their install is, it's permanent. I also put a dab of sealant on top and spread the sealant all around the bolt head. On completion you realize you have just made dozens of holes in your roof that you hope won't leak. Piping is next. Your going to want to use standard PVC. The threaded PVC connector from home depot do not mate up well with the kits threading. The kits threading is off spec. You can get it to not leak but it's nerve wrecking putting the correct amount of thread tape on and not over tightening the connection breaking the already mounted plastic solar panel. It's a fine line. Other then that, 3 PVC valves and some standard schedule 40 PVC piping and your done. Oh and don't do any PVC glueing until after you have the panels mounted and the threaded in PVC connects have been on a warm roof for 3 to 4 hours. the black solar panel will warm and the PVC connector will need to be threaded in a little further due to heat expansion.Instantly when you turn it on, you can feel the warmth. It's ranged about 2-8 degrees warmer and I'm slightly undersized at 4 panels for a 16'x32' pool. If you don't go with an automated valve, your going to want to bypass the system at night turning the 3 valves otherwise the pool will cool its self after dusk. All and all, it's worth the money. I was installing it on an exterior stand alone garage that doesn't get heated over the winter. I can see the panels leaking every now and then, and lasting 5 years or so, but time will tell. for less then a 1/4 of the cost over name brand panels, i'll roll the dice. If I was to do this again, especially on my home, I would have waited till I sourced some little mount pieces for the strapping. The way the kit wants you to mount seems like a leak waiting to happen.

We installed the solar panel onto our roof after buying the kit needed as well as extra piping to connect to the pump. We were worried that our little pump may not have the strength to pump up to the roof and back down again. We were wrong (thankfully), as it works perfectly. We have an above ground pool (approximately 22" round) and 4' deep. We opened the valve and it had turned the warmth of the pool from 62 to 68, we had rain the next hot day and then another hot day after. By then, the pool had gone up to 72! We were stunned and extremely happy. I wish that we would of bought this 10 years ago (living in Canada, some years we're lucky to have a full week of swimming due to temperature fluctuations). I can't wait to see how much warmer it continues to grow with the heat of the sun. I love this product, definitely recommend it. We unplug the pump at night as we're not sure if running it all evening would just encourage the cool water from the night to bring down the temperature of the pool. Very happy with this product.

The panel - 2 2x20' panels - produces hot water as advertised. I attached mine to a chain link fence that surrounds my pool. The panels are stiff when cold and sag when hot in the sun. I first used nylon straps, but the panels drooped inside the straps. So I bought 1" pvc pipe, cut it into 30inch lengths, painted them black to match the panel and my fence and used hose clamps to secure them to the chain link, squeezing the panels tight. The end of the panels have pipes, so I tied them to the fence posts. Works great. Also gives some privacy from rear neighbors.I bought flexible hose to run from my pool pump to the panels. Then some more hose to the pool underneath the diving board. The fittings that come with the panels leak even with tape. Next year, now that I have the system designed, I will use silicon calk and re-install the fittings. The panels come with a hunk of foul, oily smelling hose to connect the two panels. I did not use it, but used two more pvc fittings and a short lenght of hose. No way I was running my pool water through an oily hose made in China.I have a 20x40 pool in upstate NY. Along with a solar pool blanket, this heater has warmed my water to 86 degrees, very nice. By the end of August - it's now mid July - I expect to have very warm pool water and will probably not use the panels until the cooler weather in Sept. The leaky fittings were expected based on other reviews and with all the rain we've gotten, I don't care about some dripping.Be prepared to spend some more money for hose, clamps, fittings, etc. After several years of use, the panels still put out hot water. Some tiny pin holes developed, probably since the panels bake in the hot sun all summer. No real problem.

When I first saw these heaters I had my doubts as to thier thermal absorption rate, well the first set raised my water ( 15 ft round X 48 in. dp.appx 4000 gal) by 8 degrees F ,it was good for mid Ohio area,so I bought a second set and run them in parallel series with a intex 2500 gph. filter pump ,dedicated to just the heat system, with seperate inlet and discharge nozzele w/ 1 1/2 in lines. This 2nd set provided an additional 9 - 10 degrees, my pool can be as high as 98 -100, or I can leave the solar cover off and there is substantial heat loss overnight, pumps only run from 8 am to 8 pm, 2nd pump runs a intex salt system,(Awesome in its self) ,Well all I can say is this is a well designed product, easy to work with and if maintained properly ,should last many seasons without fail. They are of some black pvc (?) but small leaks should be easy to field repair through some sort of solvent welding process. Any way I am going to purchase 2 more kits so I can probably enjoy my pool around september with the shorter daylight hours and the heavy duty silver film 8 mm solar cover ,it should work great late into the season,I'm usually pretty skeptical about "reasonably "priced items,But these passed the test, their easy to uncoil from the shipping mode, ( These people pack this stuff like a PRO,Solid and compact,) the box is around 50 lb,s. u s.It is best to unroll the panels together ,and in direct sunlight,SLOWLY,as they heat alittle, then unroll alittle. I think they heat these panels then roll them with a machine, then Bandit all together under tension, and when it cools, well it gets really stiff,But they will spring a bit when unbanded,(Please use sissors to cut bands, knives could knick the panwl surface) I think you would really damage them by forcibly unrolling them cold, I just rigged up a rope over my canopy and slowly pulled them up and 1/2 way over as they hung waiting the sun to heat some more unrolled material, once heated by the sun the panels are quite fleible and HOT! use gloves! Easy to hook up, all parts included to assemble panels, EXCEPT hoses and if you buy multiple sets ,or may you use multiple sets ,you will need additional 1 1/2 in male adaptorsand 1 1/2 in hose or tubing or 2 1/2 in coolant hose,(NAPA has for 15.00 per ft. and get the bigger hose clamps for 2.00 apiece, no since doing a slipshod job from the beggining,These panels work, and I would definitly buy agin and recommend to others,ALSO , this work can involve working at heights, use all appropiate saftey gear.and methods ,or hire a contractor to install ,P S, please read and understand the instructions, principles of fluid dynamics ,and how to use this system ,I am quite sure you also will have a fantastic heater for your pool, DONT forget to build your system to drain in winter ,the freezing could very well cause trapped water to burst the cappilaries in the mat or end manifolds, they sell vacumn relief valves at thier storefront, Have a great summer.
