I got these for my kids and wife, they have been having a blast with them. Huge step up from the original and cheaper than the color screen ones. They don't get boring like the old ones. So many things to do and they do different stuff a lot. Connecting them together to play is simple. Sometimes you have to try twice but no big deal. Buttons are very easy to press and feel sturdy. They are very cute and fun! My only problem was with the retro color one it needed a new battery within a week. If you need batteries go right to energizer batteries. Overall the colors are much brighter in person. Definitely a great purchase.

As others have said, there is no pause function, and there may or may not be a mute function either (some people claim to have muted their tamagotchis, I can't seem to get it to work). The form factor is identical to the V3, although you can not debug the device as you could the V3s.IF YOU'RE HAVING DIFFICULTY USING THE CONNECT FUNCTION:1. Choose the connect button (heart with curves over it) on BOTH tamagotchis2. Press the 'B' button on whichever device you want to send to the other tamagotchi, and ONLY on that device3. Aside: you should only be pressing the connect button on only ONE tamagotchi, not both.4. You should now be connected after a brief moment. If you are still having trouble, make sure you arent in direct bright light or sunlight.

We initially had trouble connecting our Tamagotchis, but discovered we needed to press the button an additional time on one of them after the screen says “stand by”—which is super confusing, but it works! Whichever one has the button pressed again travels to the other tamagotchi.We also weren’t very excited about any of the shell designs, but liked all the options that were released in Japan. We wish those had been available in the US as well. Otherwise, my kids are completely obsessed with them.
