It’s not as ductile as a foam, and it doesn’t compress as much either. Not much of a factor given it’s only 1/4-inch, but still notable. Regardless, it’s a reliable and easy to work with backer rod.

I used this rubber strip as replacement on my boat's portlight. The original seal was a hollow rubber strip which compressed quickly, the foam rubber seal has more resistance to compression and makes a better seal on the acrylic lens. I used GOOP as the adhesive between the fiberglass and foam rubber. Has a very strong bond.

Works for what Im using it for. Reasonable price and seems to hold up decent. Time will tell though, but no complaints.
