This speed controller literally never worked. I tested it with multiple motors and multimeters. I placed it directly into a system that was working with a different scr and yes confirmed the thing arrived broken. I bought it for a personal project and didn’t try it before the return window closed. Just robbed of my money and sent a piece of garbage and no recourse to fix it

So I purchased these because the price point was a little bit higher than others. My assumption there would be that this product would be a little better made than others. Granted still at the end of the price when it comes to Rheostats like this you get what you pay for. However you get less than which you pay for. I bought two of these and the dials on both have a slight bend in them. The knob is not responsive across the band. You can turn this thing all the way up before it even registers, and as far as fine-tuning, which is what I would expect from a Rheostat it’s this cat mouse game with barely tapping one side and then tapping the other to side of the knob hopefully get within five of your actual target. Let’s just say that what I’m doing requires a little more fine-tuning than that. So if exact output is what you’re looking for, and the ability to dial that in so precisely that it’s tighter than an ass this is not the product for you. Spend a little more money and get something worth owning. Both of these I will replace and junk them. I would not even sell these as used to somebody I hated. The only reason I gave it two stars because well it looked like the picture and it actually doesn’t explode heat up or melt in my case that is. So I’m being kind please don’t buy this.

Well built unit, but no documentation and a serious oddity. While there is a red sticker on the outside of the case with a ground icon on it, there is no ground terminal. What's more, there is no ground wire connected to the AC outlet. You need to open the unit and solder a wire to it that you can then attach to the case and your ground wire. I can't believe this kind of an oversight was made in manufacturing.

I have a couple of Variacs which I use on heating mantles, or to slow down motors. This item works but but only when there is a load on it. Without that a multimeter on the output will not show any change in current.See image 2 for dial which goes from 1-22.Once an output is on it, like a grinder which I used as you can see in the images, then you get full power at dial 22.The Variac voltage control only seems to work about from 22 to mid dial (11)Here are examples of dial setting, voltage (in which the motor slowed) (see images)22 =110V20 = 88-90V18 = 66I also tested a light. From full bright at 22, by 11 it went dark. The review categories ask for "temperature" which doesn't apply here.So this is useful, make you own tests and record values.
