I'd say so far they work well. However, for them to work well after you insert them in the soil, you have to water the soil first, then put the water in the plastic birb for the water to last. I tried inserting them in the soil without watering the soil, and yes, they empty fast that way.Can last 4-5 days, which should be enough for most of my smaller plants during one week vacation!

The bottoms are very thick so hard to push in the soil, and overwater the plants. The spout does make watering leafy plants much easier.
