i gave it 3 stars because i dont know what to think.post apocalypse im a dead man, i know how to read my cars compass and that tends to match what google maps tells me.buying this for fun, the compass doesnt seem that hard, use the pointer to find magnetic north, add or subtract declination for true north. what i dont get is why when leaving it sit on the wood counter without moving that one day the red points to north, the next it points south east, a couple days later its north, then east, then south east... maybe it changes with the rotation of the earth... except no?i'll try hanging it on the wall and see what happens, good luck to you!

This is a great compass to use in conjunction with topographical maps. It has linear scales for 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 map scales. The bezel ring doesn't have click adjustments like my ancient Silva, but it is adequate. The liquid filling dampens the compass needle quickly, so it's not swinging wildly about while you're waiting for it to settle down. It comes with a small lanyard and has a magnifying glass built in. It seems to be built as well as much more expensive compasses. There's no built-in declination adjustment, and you wouldn't expect there to be for such an inexpensive compass. Oh--it's made in Taiwan, and not in the People's Republic of China. Great for plotting things on maps and orienteering and being out in the great outdoors in general.

Some people who are more into 🧭 than I am have left some pretty harsh reviews of this product.1st: It's a little over $5 and its perfect for what a basic compass is used for. If you want something more complex then go buy something more complex and invest more money for it.2nd: It points north which is what a compass is supposed to do.3rd: it does have liquid in it. The description says liquid dampened...and some people expect the whole thing to be floating in water. But if you look you can see the liquid in the center of the compass.Lastly, I use these for testing wireless items. If the compass goes crazy i know to keep it away from my body. And this item did react to every single wireless and Bluetooth device i have giving me a good idea of how much is changes the magnetic pull on my body's cells.Overall, this item is perfect, multi-use, and budget friendly.

I bought two different ones to go out and train with my 12 year old how to read Maps ( remember this paper prints before GPS ! )You always have to be prepared - GPS is great but they relay on batteries and they can stop working at 30 below .Great Experience and wonderful fast service

I had some limited expectations, perhaps based on jumping to conclusions on the price point.I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived! It's a full size compass with the features I require, the needle was responsive and settled very quickly.The listing photo does not do it justice, making it hard to see some of the actual markings and layout of this compass.I would sincerely recommend this as a great starter compass, and essential to anyone's hiking kit, vehicle, go bag, or zombie apocalypse bug out pack ;-)
