Bought this for my Yamaha electric violin. Electric violins have very little audible under-the-ear sound, and playing a violin in tune if you can't hear yourself well is next to impossible, so I picked up an in-ear-monitor amplifier with double inputs (my sound / board sound) that lets me adjust the mix from a belt control as needed. But the violin doesn't have its own preamp, it's just a piezo pickup connected to a jack, so I found the level was often so low the IEM amplifier couldn't get it loud enough for me to hear on stage even with the volume all the way up. This pedal was the solution.I'm appreciating the EQ adjustment too. The instrument tends to sound a little tinny when you just connect it up to a typical audio system, and just boosting the bass and cutting the treble slightly makes it sound much better.Haven't had any noise issues. When I turn the level and trim knobs all the way up, some hiss becomes audible, but that's to be expected (and if turning the brilliance slider down a bit doesn't damage your tone, that will cut most of it). I can also hear a low-frequency buzz with the level up, but I'm pretty sure that's mains noise from my cheapo power supply and/or imperfect grounding between my equipment that is inaudible with the preamp off, and not the fault of the pedal itself. And it's still quiet enough it's not noticeable at any level I'd normally want to use. There was no manual or guide in the box, which I thought was a little odd. It wasn't too hard to google for, but for the price, a little guide or at least the URL where I can find the guide doesn't seem like too much to ask!As an amateur I was reluctant to spend $120 on a preamp, but there were actually remarkably few available products in this space, and I'm pleased with the quality.

Does exactly what I needed for gigs. Easy to set up and adjust, then you're good to go.

The pedal is actually pretty good for what it is. It’s nice and small and does the job pretty well. But there is a high pitched noise that is always present. Unfortunately you can hear it through speakers/amps. Not sure if I got a faulty one but it’s unfortunate.
