Product arrived on time and in good packaging. The charger is perfect for AGM batteries only. Used on an Indian motorcycle battery to counteract discharge. The four star rating is only because it does not have a real-time readout which is not really an issue but would be nice to have.

On the plus side: excellent device for rejuvenating sulfated 12 V batteries - (it really works, although it may take from several days up to 2 weeks to accomplish the process), fully automatic, long AC and DC cables, water resistant, sturdy build.On the negative side: there are 4 different models of the device each of them working only with one particular type of the 12 V battery; rather very expensive considering its limited use with only one type of battery. Endorsed and recommended - in my case for AGM batteries!Additional note after a year: this device is not a battery charger! It primary purpose is desulfating the battery! It has to be run a few times if the battery is in very bad shape. I consider the device to be very useful if used properly!!!

I wanted to like this charger as I have and like the regular 'non AGM' 2012 model. Have 3 AGM North Star batteries wired in parallel that I wanted to keep properly charged. Specs on these is that they need 2.27V/cell float voltage (13.6V/battery) and this charger describes that after bulk/absorption, the float voltage provided is 13.6V. However when I measured, I got 13.24V. I tried twice to charge with same results. Over time this lower voltage could harm AGM batteries. I tried my 'non AGM' charger, and it gave 13.4V which is correct for regular lead acid batteries. Now I would have thought that this unit was just defective, but when I looked at the included manual, the float voltage for every type of battery was listed at 13.2V - which is clearly incorrect. The same owner's manual (same revision B) for my non AGM charger lists 13.4V for regular batteries and 13.6V for AGMs! Printing error or did they change output voltages? So I went to BatteryMinder web site and online Revision C manual (which I assume is latest and correct) lists correct 13.4V for regular batteries and 13.6V for AGM. I am returning the charger as I do not have time to sort this mystery out. I did call and email BatteryMinder tech support , but no response. Safe to say, I would advise buyers to check the float voltage on their 2012 AGM model chargers, and confirm that you are delivering correct 13.6V to your batteries.

I have this on a battery that runs an inverter, which runs a sump pump. So there is a light load on the battery due to the inverter sitting idle. It has performed well for approximately one year now. I also have another one that is a 2/4/8 amp model for general charging of various other batteries, not on a constant basis though. I like them both very well. It may be a little more expensive but I like the lights on them, so you can tell what the status is at a glance.

I was looking for a smart charger for my AGM battery for use with my portable emergency radio communications and found this unit. It is designed for AGM battery charging which requires a different charging profile as compared to typical automotive chargers used for "wet" (flooded) lead acid batteries. If you use these old style chargers, they will undercharge an AGM battery potentially shortening its life. The BatteryMINDer on the other hand is a smart charger with a processor to control charging, testing and maintenance modes, all automatically. I leave it connected full-time and watch it periodically test and top charge my battery. Its desulfation mode is particularly helpful for improved longevity. I know the battery will perform optimally when I need to use the radio.UPDATE 2/23/16: Have been using charger for over a year on the now 4+ year old battery. It has done a great job maintaining the available capacity of this aging battery. I expect to exceed the battery's rated lifespan and still get reliable use when needed.UPDATE 12/30/2022: This battery maintainer is still going strong, and also is the same (now nearly 10 year old) battery! I will admit that I have not done a load test on this old battery, but it is still powering the radio equipment quite well. I'm still sold on good desulfation type battery chargers.
