Re fuses, this draws up to 50 amps and I actually popped a 50 amp fuse, a 60 on that side has been fine. On the output side, I have seen as high as 44 amps so if fused on that side a 50 amp should be fine.

Like that renergy made the charge controller smaller than the previous model. But the only downside i have found in the 2 days of having it installed is that this is too smart of a system. Yes it's nice not to completely discharge the starter battery and overwork the alternator like the previous could. But it only works when the alternator is running so if the nomadic/ van life just driving around town to top up house batteries just is not enough with the 20 amp. Which is the one I had before it died on me. Have already burned twice the amount of gas in 15 hrs as I would have with the old one in 24 hrs. Will see how the 40 amp holds up when it shows up. Hopefully will be the same as the old system again so save on gas etc
