Tips

Be careful not to turn the phantom power on with passive ribbon microphones as the current may damage it. Please turn on phantom power only if the ribbon microphone clearly says it’s needed.

Please adjust the gain when recording. If the gain is too low, the recording will be too quiet, it will become too noisy when enhanced in the application, and if the gain is too high, the recording will be distorted.

If you hear an echo when using a high gain setting, use the volume button to lower the device volume.

If you cannot hear the audio while monitoring, make sure that the application you choose can support real-time input/output pass-through.(For more tips, please see the manual.)

It's a fine little unit and arrives as described but when I tested it with my shotgun mic there was always noise, regardless of where I set the gain. I have a similar product made by Saramonic. With the gain set low it is VERY quiet. Granted if you increase the volume the noise will increase but you can adjust the gain and get a good signal with virtually no noise at all..This unit looked very similar so I thought, perhaps, the performance might be similar and for the price, I thought it was worth a try. Not even close. I ended up returning it.It's perfectly adequate, if you just need something to get the signal from your mic to your camera, phone or computer but If you need decent quality audio for interviews, voice over etc., this is not for you.

The noisy pre-amps are a deal breaker. Do not buy disappointment.

I use this for all my videos and it excels in boosting the signal from a weak dynamic mic then splitting that XLR signal into stereo to go into my zoom recorder. Even if it only lasts for 6 months, I'd buy another!

Works as advertised for my needs. Using it to run a condenser mic into my computer's mic port - needed a preamp with phantom power, and this does the trick. A note regarding the mode switch - it controls the polarity of the 1/8" TRRS output plug. Switching it to "Camera" runs the signal in a way that most line-in sockets should recognize, where as switching it to "Phone" runs the signal the same way as a phone headset. It's not a particularly brilliant preamp, but it does the job very well, and at this price point, I am not complaining!
