  • HOW TO WORK: Thickness measurement is based on the reflection of ultrasonic pulses. When the ultrasonic pulse sent by the probe reaches the material interface through the measured object, the pulse is reflected back to the probe, and the thickness of the measured material is determined by accurately measuring the propagation time of the ultrasonic in the material. This principle can be used to measure all kinds of materials that can make ultrasonic waves propagate at a uniform speed.

Bought from seller linkchen.Bought on sale.Pretty decent machine for the price.Came with Ultrasonic set, English/Mandarin instructions, calibration block, dual crystal 5mhz probe and carrying case.You'll need to supply couplant. Or just spit on that thing! (It'll work, as well as any other coupling material such as Vaseline, cooking oil, engine oil, grease, etc etc)I am a Non-Destructive technician certified in ultrasonics Level 2 and can attest to the claims of accuracy in the listing.UT set is set for steel sound velocity of 5900m/s at startup.Accuracy confirmed with a certified steel 5-step calibration block.5mm step showed 4.9mm on the UT set.Note that this tool doesnt come with calibration certificate and cannot be used for actual inspections but great for quick checks or home use.Works great for the price. The sets we use cost multiple thousands of dollars.
