These were great for teaching compass use and bearings to students.Sometimes the magnets were disrupted by phone and watches and others objects, but for the most part they worked.

I bought these to teach orienteering to Cub Scouts and adult leaders, since they were cheap and in bulk. You get what you pay for. The baseplate is too short to reach between points unless they are very close together on the map, and the bezel is so loose and wobbly it won't hold a bearing. A third of them don't even point close to North, some are up to 20 degrees off even when you tap it to reset the needle.Overall, the few dollars I saved on these cheap compasses wasn't worth the headaches they caused. Even the adults had problems using them, and they're worthless for teaching kids. There are plenty of other compass packages on Amazon that won't make kids hate orienteering before they even step outside.

Not bad for training youth on how to use a compass but the sturdiness is poor. First time using two fell apart.

The title says most of it. These are NOT declination adjustable! And the dial is so loose, they are all but useless! I will probably be returning them.

Bought these as giveaways for our Cub Scout Pack. The boys loved them. My son has used his a few times and works as it’s supposed to. Nice compact size, and easier to use than smaller round compasses. Haven’t heard any complaints or issues with them from the rest of our Pack.
