Love everything about the camera, its integration with google home is great, the camera triggers are easy to set and accurate , the twin spotlights are super bright at 100% and can be dimmed if needed.Camera is clear and the IR night works greatChanging wifi settings is terrible, you have to uninstall the unit from your account and redo the entire installation to update wifi or a password. The unit turns off below -30°C which makes it a poor choice for were I live in Northern Canada. It’s a self preservation setting, I’m sure it would work fine if there was a software option.4/5 due to the setup issue.

I bought this, had it installed and it worked on and off for about a week. I spent 45 min. on the phone with Google support only for them to tell me it’s defective and to send it back. I bought the doorbell camera instead and so far so good, much easier to install and better camera view for half the price.

Works great. Better notifications and video quality. Night mode is also good, easy to setup. Has all you need in the package except the long extension wire if you wish to electrify. Batter is also great, i have it for a month on battery then decided to use electric. Downside is you need nest subscription for full features.

Google Nest Cam (Outdoor or Indoor, Battery) - 1 Pack, Snow, 1 Count (Pack of 1)I pretty much reviewed almost every nest camera generation including when these cameras were owned by nest and not bought out by Google.I have also owned several other security camera systems such as blink, wyze, arlo, tp-link, and several other offbrand systems.I will be fairly brief in this review because there are many other reviews they'll pretty much go through the functions and features.Long story short, this is the absolute best system out there from my experience because it supports a very functional live stream that's anchored on Google backbone cloud. Every other camera system that I've listed and used have absolute unusable choppy live streaming functions which essentially mean that those cameras are event-driven only that capture and uppload for viewing later . Even if other cameras claim to support live streaming, in my experience all of them are actually unreliable and frustrating to use.Google now supports as of 2023, live streaming on your desktop Chrome browser. I have seven nest outdoor and indoor camera setup in my Google home and all of them stream simultaneously on a website no problems. Obviously your Wi-Fi coverage limits choppy or not choppy the stream is however I found that Google nest cameras have a smarter buffering system that allows you to see videos as smooth as you can with mirror 2.4 gigahertz Wi-Fi coverage. I will tell you that every other system I've used doesn't come close to matching the smoothness the sharpness and the reliability compared to Google nest.Google nest camera is built to last and is tried and true and tested in Canadian winters at - 30 c . Although the specs indicate minus 25 I've had absolutely no issues with this camera even colder. This camera has survived 90 km per hour wind with its magnetic mount. So long as you are using a Google Mount the magnet is absolutely strong. If you are using a third party mount please note that the magnet tends to not stick onto the back of the camera as strong as an oem mount. One other thing I will mention is that Google has far superior AI built into the system. However it comes at a subscription cost. Once you subscribe to the nest aware package all of your Google nest cameras will support the enhanced features. There are some systems that you need to subscribe per camera. Since the cause of subscription varies based on whatever promotion you have it's difficult to say which one is the cheapest however even when I subscribe to the other enhanced features from other camera systems.... Google nest aware is vastly superior.Needless to say I really like the Google nest cameras. However there is one Achilles heel. The outdoor cameras suffer from somewhat weak Wi-Fi reception.. you really do need a fairly decent wi-fi system in your house especially if you plan on putting them outdoors. I'm not sure why Google doesn't allow you to have an external antenna accessory to help it's RX. But in order to find much more reliability with these systems I had to put additional Wi-Fi mesh nodes up close to the ends of my house in order to realize a reliable nest system..This specific outdoor camera supports fully operational batery mode. Cameras internal battery can be charged in your house and then snapped onto your Mount outside no cords. However note that in the winter the battery life reduces to 2 to 3 months at best. You probably hardwire the camera if it is at all possible but if you must put it in a location without power then it's doable. I don't really have an issue with these cameras because I plug in the camera 24/7 for infinite power.I've tried to summarize some of the keys that I've encountered that really stand out compared to the competition. You can read about all of the specific functionality everywhere but I wanted to make this review useful for people who are specifically looking for live streaming and reliability in a Wi-Fi based security camera solution .Now with the system being in my opinion the best camera system out there, it does come out of obvious cost penalty. These cameras are 179-250$ varying on the sale. Blink and wyze cameras are a fraction of the cost ($30-60). So in the end you have to see if it's worth the price. In my home I use wyxe cameras and blink cameras and Google nest cameras. I like to use blink cameras and wise cameras for just event notifications and quick momentary video clips. Especially if I need to be completely cordless in remote areas of the house indoors or outdoors. However for areas that I would like to have much more robust and cleaner videos with much more functional live streaming, then I install Google nests in those areas ( example: driveway and porch, for mischief capturing and license plates)I hope this helps.
